Hi Ian, Thank you for your response. Frank from sales was excellent, I have no concerns regarding him. He was only mentioned because I was required by dealer rater to enter who the salesman was. My major issues come from the lack of accountability from Hyundai/Ken Ganley Hyundai Parma regarding the above-mentioned concerns. I have previously called in to discuss the failing engine part and the car theft concerns and have been told that here is no recall issued for these known issues and I would pay out of pocket for them to be repaired. But (for the car theft concern) that they would sell me a steering wheel lock or install an immobilizer for a fee. If a car can be stolen by a child with a USB cord and a screwdriver after watching a 12 second video, something needs to change. That is in no way the reasonable security I would expect from a modern car. I also respond with an update to my Hyundai experience. Last winter the engine part failed in the cold and today the hood latch failed in the cold (approximately 0 degrees F). I topped off my wiper fluid and closed the hood hard and ensured that it was closed. I proceeded to attempt to drive home for the holidays when the hood blew open on the interstate, shattered my windshield, buckled the roof, and broke the trim on either side of the windshield. I examined the car and found that the hood latching mechanism was frozen and would stay in any position it was placed in, this caused the hood to not latch fully despite being closed with considerable force and nearly led to an accident and likely $2500-5000 in damages. (I have several pictures of the hood latching mechanism after the part failure and several more of the car damages if anyone is interested in proof.) I will call the dealership when it opens after Christmas and will update this post with how this issue is handled. It seems that Hyundai vehicles are not designed to be operated safely in any region that is cold in the winter. I have narrowly avoided potentially severe accidents due to cold-induced part failures on two occasions, one failure that resulted in complete brake failure with absolutely no warning and one failure that resulted in the hood smashing the windshield. I write this sincerely, with no financial interests from outside sources. I have no affiliations with any other brand of car and do not endorse any other brands as an alternative. If you value your safety or the safety of others who ride with you and you live in an area that reaches temperatures below freezing in the winter, do not purchase a Hyundai. I have had engine-related, battery-related, and hood related issues all stemming from the cold. They need to have major recalls completed before the vehicle is safe to drive in the cold. Additionally, the theft-related concern is sincerely inexcusable. 2 of my colleagues have had their Hyundai vehicles stolen in the past month. Hyundai issued a statement that they would be providing steering wheel locks to police departments to distribute to people who were affected. I attempted to contact the police department to claim one and was informed by the officer that they only received "a few" and they only lasted 2 days before they were gone. No more were sent. I do not write this review to single anyone who works at Ken Ganley Hyundai out, I understand that none of the people that a customer would interface with have any control over policies and procedures. I write this review to inform others who are looking into purchasing a car of some of the safety, accountability, financial, and security concerns that I have encountered since purchasing this vehicle. The people who work at this dealership have all been lovely to work with, but the policies at the dealership show absolutely no regard for the safety and security of their customers. It does not matter how egregious the safety concern is, until Hyundai is forced by a court to issue a recall, nothing will be done unless it is out of your own pocket.
