Easily the worst auto service I have ever dealt with. Our household considers ourselves “Subaru people” so we’ve given Kearny Mesa Subaru MANY chances, but they always seem to let us down. My partner has taken his car there twice. Of these four times with them, only ONCE have we completed service without Kearny Mesa Subaru messing up in some way. Summary: My first time: Left stranded without a pick-up despite being promised on. My second time: No incident, save some rude comments. My partners first time: Car died around the block from the dealership, had to wait an hour for pickup. My partners second time: Made an appointment, was told that they wouldn’t work on the car for another 3 days. On day 3 we didn’t receive a call, just an email with an outrageous estimate. My first time with Kearny Mesa Subaru, the vehicle service was OK. I scheduled an appointment online, dropped my car off, and it was completed by end of the business day. Unfortunately, my customer service rep over promised drop-off and pick-up services on his end. I was able to utilize the dealership’s shuttle service to be dropped off at work, however the service rep had also promised to arrange pick-up for me. I waited an hour for pick-up and no one came. Luckily, I was able to get a ride from a friend to the dealership. Still, it was a bad experience being told I would have pick-up and instead being forgotten and stranded. My second time with Kearny Mesa Subaru was mostly without incident. I made an appointment online, service was complete by end of business day. No unexpected repairs. Was just treated a little rudely with comments about how dirty my car is. (sorry, but in actual Subaru country where our Subis are adventure vehicles- our cars get a little beat up, a little dirty, but are well loved.) My partners first time with Kearny Mesa Subaru as to fix one of those dreaded air-bag recalls. After picking up his Outback, his car completely died on Balboa- just around the corner from the dealership. He called the dealership and it took them an hour to come to his aid. Turns out, someone forgot to plug something in and it died. (The lack of attention to detail is not very confidence inspiring) My partners second time with Kearny Mesa Subaru is still in the process of being worked out. We made an appointment online, and when we dropped off the vehicle we were informed that they wouldn’t get to our car for another three days. On day three, we didn’t receive a call, just an outrageous estimate. I repeat: the dealership has made NO effort to contact us other than sending the estimate as an attachment with NO text in the email. NO phonecall. For fun: the estimate included $90 to replace our wipers (which is probably $10 in parts and 5-min of labor) and $6500 for a head gasket (which is a $200 part at most, though I don’t know how many hours of labor this would be) and 9 other items – again, with NO other communication or explanation. TERRIBLE customer service, questionable quality of work. If you can find somewhere else to take your Subi, I highly recommend you avoid this place. More
The salesman, Diego Castro, should be the salesman of the year. After receiving my vehicle, the follow up training with Cameron Cook was excellent. I would highly recommend Diego and Cameron. First service was offered free, I made a appointment, arriving at the appointment time I was greeted within 5 minutes and the service writer given a schedule of services to be performed, she’s said it wo arriving at the appointment time I was greeted within 5 minutes and the service writer given a schedule of services to be performed, she’s said it would take about 2-1/2 hours, I told the service writer I would wait, the waiting is small seating was comfortable and had large screen TV. I read my book. The only that was missing were courtesy snacks although beverages were free. The car was delivered on time, and was washed. More

Picked up my new 2021 Touring 3 weeks go. On the whole, car was checked out well. But two items have problems: 1. Navigation audio is totally non-operative. Visual instructions are shown on screens - B car was checked out well. But two items have problems: 1. Navigation audio is totally non-operative. Visual instructions are shown on screens - BUT NO VOICE COMMANDS. 2. Active cruise control is unstable - the actual car speed fluctuates -3 to +2 mph about the set (desired) speed. My 2016 Outback was dead-on - actual speed was always maintained, even on up and down hills. You new car checkout might easily have missed the cruise control problem. But the total lack of audio in navigation should have been easily caught. Am now in Oregon for 3 months - very inconvenient. Big disappointment. More
