I was able to get my car scheduled for its 40k. Since it a major service and would require some time. The service representative was every accommodating in providing a loaner. The gentleman I bought the car from, Joe, was a joy to work with and I appreciated his "no pressure" approach and sincerity. I'd happily buy another car from him. That being said, I couldn't shake the fee work with and I appreciated his "no pressure" approach and sincerity. I'd happily buy another car from him. That being said, I couldn't shake the feeling that there may have been some attempted underhandedness on the part of the manager, Lance. For one, after we visited the dealership earlier in the day, he called trying to get me to buy the car that evening and insisted it would be only a $500 deposit. Yet, he charged me $1000 and acted dumbfounded when I confronted him about it (he had secretly recorded the conversation so I was able to confirm the $500 price when we listened back to settle another discrepancy), then blamed someone else for it. It seemed pretty clear that he was lying but I suppose that's par for the course in this industry; they're trying to extract as much money from you in whatever way possible. They may try pulling one over on you and hope you just give them the benefit of the doubt that there was some sort of misunderstanding -- however, there was no legitimate explanation for them do that in this particular instance, it's a blatant, shameless, cash grab that they hoped I wouldn't notice. Yes, it's deceptive on their part and you've got to expect them to try and pull things like that going in. Anyways, after some back and forth with Lance regarding some "miscommunication" on the price, we reached a fair deal, however if my wife and I had been less scrupulous about everything, we would've gotten stung for an additional $1000 or so. Anyways, all issues with the management aside, Joe the salesman is a great guy to buy from. He earned the 5 stars all on his own, I would give the management fewer if I could. When you go to buy a car at any dealership, just be aware the salesman is probably at the mercy of a manager, all of whom are probably trying to hit a quota and carve out some commission for themselves by whatever means necessary. I advise you to educate yourself ahead of time on pricing, what fees and taxes are negotiable, etc, because the business is inherently predatory. More
