Painless Lease experience Previously had a bad experience at this location and wasn't sure I wanted to return here when it was time to enter a new lease and turn in my old one. Fraudulent offers I had been in to this dealership a couple of times over the past six months looking to explore coming in off our lease on our 2015 Grand Cherokee as w I had been in to this dealership a couple of times over the past six months looking to explore coming in off our lease on our 2015 Grand Cherokee as we were over the allotted miles. I had spoken with the salesman David Feld each time. Approximately one month ago I went in again to attempt to come in off the lease, our Grand Cherokee was inspected and we were made an offer on leasing a new Grand Cherokee with our miles over being forgiven. I declined as I thought the price was a bit high. This past week their salesman David Feld phoned me and made an offer which I declined again. On the morning of Saturday March 31, 2018 David phoned again and said he would lease me a new Grand Cherokee for $2,000 down and $518 per month for 39 months. I accepted the offer, cleaned out my vehicle, removed some accessories and my wife and I drove a half an hour to the dealership to pick up our new Grand Cherokee. Upon arrival we were told the vehicle was not on site and were stalled for about an hour. The salesman then came back to us at his desk saying we could lease the vehicle but for a much higher monthly cost. He stated he did not realize we were coming in off a lease and were over our miles. I told him he knew that when he made the offer, this was the whole point. He obviously had a file on me with my name number and the type of vehicle and features I wanted. Surely he had the numbers of his offers made in the past in the file. He knew the situation. The dealership made a verbal commitment to lease this vehicle to me at the cost stated on the phone. They called me. I did not come in to negotiate, I came in to finalize paper work and pick up my new car. Frankly we were manipulated unfairly with the empty promise of the lower lease cost. This was obviously an unfair and fraudulent, “bait and switch “tactic and feel we were victimized. I believe the dealership should honor the deal they offered. Of 180 Dealer Rater reviews for this dealership 40 are negative and many of the negative reviews are for the same bait and switch tactics, 6 to be exact. I sampled ratings of other dealers, and found 0 to 1 complaints about bait and switch tactics at each. Johnson has six which is a big red flag in my book. Obviously this dealership commits fraud on a regular bases. Promising deals on the phone they will not follow thru with just to get folks in to try and bait them into a higher price as they have now invested a good deal of their time to come in. Are they getting away with this as the commitments made are verbal and telephonic with no written documentation? I would suggest an investigation utilizing an investigator shopping on the phone and being made a commitment then going in and seeing what happens. More
