My wife takes her vehicle into John Eagle for service. We noticed a rattle coming from the rear of her car after service two appointments ago. I figured it was something loose in the trunk or the underbody. When I couldn’t locate it myself, we decided to just have John Eagle look at it during the next service. At the next service two weeks ago, they told her the strut was leaking gas and needed to be replaced, and they quoted $700 for the repair. It’s odd for a strut to go bad at 45k miles, and I couldn’t see gas leaking myself so I took it into my trusted mechanic. It turns out the bolt securing the strut to the torsion beam was loose. The strut itself was fine and had no leaks. My mechanic tightened the bolt and the noise went away. A) It’s odd enough to have the bolt loose AFTER service, but things do happen and it’s possible it came loose on its own on the lift during service. My mechanic noted he didn’t see any torque marks to indicate the bolt had intentionally been loosened. B) However, it is NOT difficult to know if a strut is bad, especially if you are a certified dealer mechanic. There’s either gas leaking or there’s not. To quote my wife $700 for an unnecessary repair is simply fraud. I called the service department and asked to speak with the service manager, Jason, on three consecutive days this week, leaving messages both with the receptionist and on Jason’s voicemail. I did not receive a return call to even address this issue. I’ll be reporting the dealership to the BBB and to Honda USA, and I recommend you avoid this dealership for your service. More

I received emails reminding me to bring the lease car in for "servicing". I sent 4 EMAILs to John Eagle over a 4 week period to inquire about the "real need" to bring the car in considering I now work from home and the car only has 661 miles on it since FEB. No Response...so I left my safe home....and visited your SVC DEPT to see if they could help. Was advised that "yes" I still need to bring the car in for an oil/filter change even if only 661 miles. So I schedule today's appointment - which costs $67.60. A simple email response could have save me (and your staff) from having to physically come in contact with one another. Oh, yes, I could have called - but I didn't have confidence that I would secure accurate directions over the phone. I wanted an email response. Thanks for letting me share. More
