On Monday, December 12, 2022, I visited the Joe Myers Ford used car dealership to inquire about purchasing the 2021 Lexus ES 350 F. I previously requested information via auto trader and spoke with Usman Ford used car dealership to inquire about purchasing the 2021 Lexus ES 350 F. I previously requested information via auto trader and spoke with Usman Majoka that morning to make an appointment but had some free time and decided to go in sooner. Upon arrival, Usman and I test drove the vehicle, then proceeded to his offer to discuss pricing. After making Usman aware that I would be financing the vehicle through my bank (USAA) as well as doing a trade-in on a 2015 Dodge Durango, he came back with an estimate that was more than I wanted to pay. After discussing the price, I told Usman that I would think about it and get back to him. Prior to me leaving, the manager Geo Diaz (who was very professional), came and introduced himself and said that he wanted to make sure that he did everything he could before letting me go. On Wednesday, December 14, 2022, I returned to the dealership with my best friend where we were eventually greeted by Usman. We test drove the vehicle and I fell more in love. I went back into Usman’s office where I told him my maximum to pay is $40,000 and if we could work to get close to that number, I’d be ready to sign and purchase. Usman informed me that he would talk to his manager, but to remember that “he has a family to feed” and that it is only a, “$600 difference that I’m making a big deal about”. Usman came back into the office and said that his manager would lower the cost to $40,000 if I agreed to finance through the dealership. I told him that I would be ok with that as long as the rate was the same or lower than my pre-approval rate with USAA. Usman left and came back into the office stating that they would not sell me the car unless I financed through the dealership only. At this point I was extremely confused, and I asked, “So what if I want to just keep the price at $40,589.63, then I can just use my financing correct?” I was told, “No, no 3rd party financing is allowed”. I asked to speak with the manager directly and Johnny Arrange walked in and was extremely rude from the beginning asking me, “What don’t you understand about what was said, I’m not selling the car to you unless you use our financing.” I asked when did this policy come into play and he responded saying “During covid, because banks weren’t paying on time”. I told him that I was never informed of this, and he replied, “It doesn’t matter what you were told, this car won’t be sold unless you finance through us”. From that point, I did what any customer would do, I asked for his business card and left. Johnny was extremely rude and unprofessional, and I was extremely offended at the level of service that was provided. I called the Joe Myers Ford new car sales side to verify this policy and was told that this was untrue, that third party financing is accepted. As a 5-year recipient of the President’s Award and BBB “Winner of Distinction” prize, I find it unacceptable that the manager and sales associate would give false information on top of being extremely rude. I work in the sales and customer service industry and would never treat my clients the way that I was treated. More
