First, a bit about myself, at nearly 60 years of age I have owned around a 100 cars and about 40 of those in the last 15 years. Excessive, of course. But that's what car fanatics do. Cars can be bought anywhere, what can't be found is the expected and yet unexpected persona found at Machens VW. This comes from the core and that core is Mr Gary Drewing, the owner of Machens. Somehow he has been able to instill and inspire his staff to understand that getting customers to stop by once is the customers doing. Getting them to come back is on Machens. My hat is off to Mr Drewing....outstanding and darn impressive!!!! One of those clearly inspired or has the natural talent, and I think it's the later, is a gentleman by the name of Alan Nichols. It was a hot sweaty Saturday morning that I spontaneously pulled in to the VW store, ball cap and all. Out came a guy that greeted me like I had pulled in to have my car parked for me at the country club. I really had not stopped by to buy and car, but I love VW's and just wanted to have a closer look at the new Beetles. The fact that I drove in with a 1973 VW Thing caused more attention than I wanted, but xxxx, that's what I was driving that morning. Next thing I knew Alan and I were off for a short drive in a new Turbo Beetle. In the first 100 yards I knew I had to have one. So now I'm thinking, well xxxx, I am going to be here for awhile. And I was. Alan from the get go made me feel as if I were the only person that mattered that day. And over the course of the following two weeks we put together what I feel is the smoothest and most comfortable car purchase I have ever made. It was he 110% all the way either in person or on the phone that consistently handled every detail flawlessly. Thanks Alan!!!!!!! I was looking to trade in my car for new car . I went to a dealership in the town i live in and spent all day there doing paperwork and looking, then waiting on finance department a sales manager came out a dealership in the town i live in and spent all day there doing paperwork and looking, then waiting on finance department a sales manager came out and told me to take the car home for the weekend that i was looking at , and then he would call me monday morning to come sign papers . So I did this and come monday he called and said i needed to bring car back and talk to him. Well I didnt get the car they wanted 4000.00 down . So went to Joe Machens in Columbia in the afternoon and my salesman and the others even that wasn't working with me made me feel at home , very friendly and nice and polite . Then the Finance department ( so sorry i don't remember there name ) worked so hard and well needless to say me with not perfect credit drove off the lot in a nice 2013 car with 7 miles on it . I have told all my friends about my day there and even a few said they was going to go to Columbia to check them out !! Thank you so much , all of you . Just want to say Im from out of town come there to work and had a blow out on my volkswagen cc needed a tire . I bought a new Volkswagen and I wish I could say it has been a fairy tell story, but unfortunately it hasn't. That being said the service department at Joe Machens is just truly exceptional. Everyone that works in the department (Jenn, Joe, JC, Drew) and I'm sure others, but these are the people that I know, are just great. I have never had this kind of service and support from any other dealer. Most dealers you have to struggle in order to be given a loaner car while yours is being worked on, but not here. Heck they let me keep it for a couple of weeks while the part was on order so I wouldn't have to keep driving back and forth to Columbia Since I live 40 minutes away. You just don't get this kind of friendliness and warm environment from any other car dealer. I know my situation with my car wasn't the best, but everyone in the service made the problem as painless as possible. Jenn worked extremely hard talking with Volkswagen in order to get my vehicle resolved and even went above and beyond what she really needed to do. She actually cares about you and your car and knows how much of a struggle it is sometimes when your vehicle is having problems. Jenn kept me up to date with anything that was going on with the vehicle. They put the customer first and these days that is getting to be more and more rare. I am so glad that my car situation is finally being resolved and it would have never turned out this well had I taken my car to another dealer. I highly recommend anyone to take their car to Joe Machens and have it serviced. I used to be afraid to take my car to a dealer to have something done to it. I mean I would go home and double check all their work, but now with this dealer I don't have to worry about because they are so careful with your vehicle. Give xxxxxxto your cleaning crew because they do a pretty good job. Every time I got my car back, no matter if it was just their for an oil change, the car would be spotless inside and out. Joe and JC keep up the good work. You guys are very easy to talk to and the great thing is you all actually listen and care. Again thank you everyone who was involved in this process. GREAT JOB!!!!
