Being a single woman out to buy a car for herself because her Honda Civic had been totaled in a hail storm, I had some trepidations. You hear horror stories of women being taken advantage of due to their inferior knowledge of automobiles. Not with John. He was/is one of the kindest people I have met in a long time. He took great pride in the dealership and in his role as my personal salesman. He never used a hard sell tactic on me but showed me what they had that I might be interested in. When I saw the little Prius, I knew I had found my car. The test drive proved it was meant to be. John handled the details and I wrote him a check and was on my way that very afternoon and I didn't even think I wanted a Toyota when I started out on my mission. I was going to get another Honda. But John and that little car convinced me otherwise. I've been to the new dealership for batteries for my key fob and I must say I'm very impressed with all the improvements. I will definitely be coming back soon to have my car serviced. What was really nice was John took a moment out of his busy day to come over and spend a few with me just chatting. I'm obviously a devoted Toyota fan and a big fan of John Boyer. I rate him Great anytime of day for friendliness and kindness. He made me feel like I matter and not like I was just another sale. Thank you very much for this opportunity to express myself and my admiration for the folks in the service department as well. Always quick and easy to ask questions of. All in all my experience with Joe Machens Toyota was positive and I give it high marks for a great experience. I had had my previous car (a 1996 Toyota Corolla) for 17 years, purchased used from an owner. I loved my Toyota and always had it serviced at Machens. I still loved the car, and it had only around 70,000 years, purchased used from an owner. I loved my Toyota and always had it serviced at Machens. I still loved the car, and it had only around 70,000 miles on it, but the last time I took it in for servicing, I was told that it was at an age where parts were going to be wearing out and need to be replaced. I had started thinking this over, and serendipitously, I received a phone message from Machens telling me that 2013 Corollas were going to be on sale for 20% off. So I asked a friend to go with me, and made an appointment. I was assigned to John. He was extremely friendly and helpful. I first test drove a Scion and liked it ok, but when I got behind the wheel of a Corolla, it felt like home. My biggest concern, though, was that my garage is very short, and the current Corollas are 8 inches longer than my '96. John graciously allowed us to drive the Corolla by my house to check it for size in the garage. It looked like a tight fit, so my friend and I pondered solutions. Eventually, John worked out a solution which involved installing a camera on the front end of the car and drawing lines on the garage wall so I could align the car with the line. He even came over and helped me find the place to draw the line, since I'm a single woman leaving alone. John has been just great in terms of helping me negotiate price, showing me how to do things when I picked up the car, and asking me to call him whenever I need to bring the car in for service. I have strongly positive feelings about Machen after my experience with John and would recommend the dealer to anyone who asked. More
