Now the Machens Service Guys have a direct number you can text which makes life so much easier to get scheduled, answer questions, etc. I love leaving the service department with new knowledge about my car and how to save myself money. Run away! Drove from KC to look at a certified Tundra that was well priced. Salesman knew I was coming. When I got there the truck exterior was filthy and the back seat had several large stains, and the passenger rear tire was low (TMPS was on). I tried to make a deal that night but when we were $800 apart I asked for my keys so I could leave when the Danny actually laughed and said, "You would leave over $800 dollars". I did not like being laughed at, or the deal so I left. Started working with Joe and he was able to get the most of the back seat cleaned up so I drove back the next weekend, I told Joe and Danny that I could get interest rates in the 3's from my bank and Danny assured me the could meet or beat that due to my credit rating. When I finally got back to finance, I was offered mid 5's. When I threatened to walk I was given mid 3's. Danny told me all the tires were low and he filled them up to 32 or whatever they called for.. The TPMS light wasn't on so I took his word for it. 2 days later when I jumped in to go to work the TPMS light was on again and it was saying the passenger rear tire was low and the other 3 were over inflated (45 lbs) so I had to spend a couple hours getting a tire repaired. Danny also told me how the Automatic high beams worked so I tried them on my drive home from the dealership but they never dimmed. So, I opened the glove box to read the manual and there was no manual.. I asked Danny about that and his reply was, 'was there one last week? I don't recall seeing one".. Not, Sorry about that I'll get you one".. or anything close to customer friendly.. I have also emailed the concerns to Joe and no response. I regret this deal and will never deal with another Machens or McLarty dealership in the future. If I could reverse it I would in a heartbeat! More
Service is a no-go I don’t recommend the service department. My parents have been going to Machens for years and insist that I only buy Toyotas. Since I moved back here as an adult, I’ve been taking my Prius and my husband’s RAV-4 to Joe Machens Toyota to get serviced. Since moving here over the summer, I have probably spent $1k on services and repairs. The plastic underbody on my Prius and my husband’s RAV-4 have been popping off (a fault of Toyotas, I can only assume). Well about two weeks ago my husband’s popped off and we took it to Machens to be fixed. It cost him in the range of $15-$30. The same sort of piece on my car popped off and I went in today to get it fixed and before they took it back, they said it would be $100 to do a body diagnosis. At this point, my advisor hadn’t even looked at me yet. I patiently explained that my husband had the same issue with his Toyota and they fixed it for much less. She explained (a little pre-emptively defensively, might I add) that they aren’t trying to rip me off- that they just need to cover their costs. So, I had to pry- “So, is that the max cost it will be? Could it be less? Or is that a flat fee?” She said it’s the max. To which I inquired, “will you update me while it’s back there if it’s looking like it’s going to be on the higher end. If it’s taking more time, or needs extra special work?” She replies they wouldn’t. They would just not allow it to go over $100. I told her, I’m a student, my husband got it fixed for much less, I’ve spent $1k there over the past few months. I’ll just go to Subaru. It’s just sad they will help me and you all won’t. I was already upset that both of our Toyotas have had the same issue. But this interaction definitely made me never want to shop there for a car again. My husband and I will both need new cars soon. I understand that people have bad days and that prices sometimes need to change, but I gave her every opportunity to explain to me, and to apologize. and to help. And she just didn’t care for me enough to take the time. I’m the customer. I shouldn’t have to deal with this. More
oil change came in for oil change, multiple suggestions made for other work, didn't have time that morning, quote was going to be made and given to me when I lef came in for oil change, multiple suggestions made for other work, didn't have time that morning, quote was going to be made and given to me when I left. No quotes provided. Vehicle was to be washed, wasn't washed. And it took two hours for an oil change. Fortunately you have a great set-up that made waiting work and I could work and keep things going. I requested regular oil, that was what was on teh ticket, but someone billed it out as synthetic. I caught the mistake and it was taken care of. Paula was my service writer and was very thorough and helpful, not pushy at all, good to work with. More

Oil changes take WAY too long, and I'm still confused as to the reason of scheduling appointments when they are not remotely useful or honored. I had a 7:15am appointment for an oil change and my car wasn't brought in till 9am. Ridiculous! More

Very good service, reasonabley priced. Practically all of our service work here has been scheduled maintenance & they have always done good work at reasonable prices. From the time I turned in my prior lease to getting a new lease out the parking lot, they each have made sure I was happy and pleased with the arrangements. Even when I got back to Ohio, the awesome communications and interaction has not let up one bit! They treat my messages with the utmost importance and make sure my driving experience and motor vehicle requirements are taken care of promptly and without worries. Keep up the great work! I won't hesitate to travel the whole distance to their dealership from Ohio to Missouri when my next lease experience comes around. They are the best! More
