Great experience! I was not necessarily in the market for a new car but struck up a conversation with Ed while waiting for a routine service....we hit it off, as we are I was not necessarily in the market for a new car but struck up a conversation with Ed while waiting for a routine service....we hit it off, as we are both in sales and recounted funny stories about cars and sales! I mentioned I wouldn't mind visiting with him about the newer model of my vehicle and after a little bit of phone tag over the summer I came in to meet with him! Ed and the staff were able to get me where I wanted to be as far as the numbers went with very little hassle and I was able to drive my new car off the lot! Looks like I found my new car salesman! Overall experience After the purchase, and during the preparation of the paperwork, the Finance Officer attempted to sell us a “Service Contract” which we declined. He After the purchase, and during the preparation of the paperwork, the Finance Officer attempted to sell us a “Service Contract” which we declined. He then left the room and a few minutes later a gentleman entered who introduced himself as an officer of the Machens dealerships and who then attempted to sell us the same service contract. Again we declined. We were then subjected to the most unprofessional, unethical and disingenuous sales tactics we have ever experienced. After three (3) more occasions of indicating our wish to decline the contract, we finally allowed ourselves to be talked into purchasing an overpriced and probably underused service contract. Nobody forced us to make the purchase or held a gun to our heads, but the incessant badgering ultimately won out for the dealership. Our salesman was excellent. Those we dealt with immediately after the sale not so much. Immediately after learning of this review, Sales Manager Rob Meldrum contacted us and made every effort to see that our objections were satisfied and assisted in cancelling the contracts to which we objected. Although we cannot condone the sales tactics used, we give high praise to the lengths the management was willing to go to address and correct the problem. Our opinion of the dealership has vastly improved. More

Dealing with ed I'd made a trip alone (without my wife) to machens to just browse a month or two before the date we bought the car. I live an hour away and had heard I'd made a trip alone (without my wife) to machens to just browse a month or two before the date we bought the car. I live an hour away and had heard about buying a car in Columbia and how the salesmen chase you down and put on the pressure to buy. I met ed told him what I was in the market for how I was only looking had to bring the wife back to Test drive he was very understand gave me a card. Fast forward brought the wife down to test drive very friendly no pressure atmosphere. Ed was very knowledgeable on the two Santa Fe's we test drove. At the end of the visit we discussed where we were on a price and payment, he called me on a Monday by Wednesday afternoon the new Santa Fe was sitting in my driveway. Great salesman, and finance team, quick and easy process , we love our new ride. We will definitely come back for our next vehicle and recommend ed and the crew at joe machens Hyundai , thanks guys!!
