The atmosphere was fantastic - we were allowed to look around a little before talking to a salesman, so we didn't have someone in our face the minute we drove in. Our salesman, Bill, really did a wonderful job working with us, letting us look at every Truck that met our "list" and went above and beyond to help us. The sales managers Joe and Andy were helpful, honest and showed us numbers from the start so we knew each step of the way where we were at. Todd in Finance earned his money for sure and he worked us the best deal with Ford that was possible, looking at it 15 different ways. He put up with endless questions and made it a successful visit to the dealership. Made me realize why my parents always swore by Machens, their sales team and their service department. We were pleased with the excellent way we were treated by our Sales Representative ( Bruce Mulnix ). Sales person Taylor Barton was very knowledgable and polite! I previously went to a smaller dealership and didn't like the experience or offer for my trade. I called Taylor at Joe Machens and they immed polite! I previously went to a smaller dealership and didn't like the experience or offer for my trade. I called Taylor at Joe Machens and they immediately offered more for my trade over the phone. I came to the dealership and said I wanted a 2014 fusion at a certain payment. (Previous dealer said my number wasn't realistic) I looked at a lot of fusions and they were more than accommodating to me wanting to see several different Fusions. We finally found the right one and they got me the payment I wanted within about 15 dollars. Guys don't worry yourselves by going to the smaller dealers. These guys are very successful for a reason! They know what they're doing and can get you into the car you want. My salesperson Taylor showed me features on my Fusion that most people wouldn't know. Case in point I showed my grandparents something in their car that their dealer didn't even explain! Financing went without a problem John Brown was who got my financing done and he made it work without even so much of a problem. These guys are the real deal and I will recommend to everyone in my family. Don't hesitate start with Joe Machens it'll save you time in the end. More
I am writing this review specifically about the Joe Machens Automotive Group on Vandiver Dr in Columbia, Mo. Simply put, this is THE BESTdealership that my husband and I have ever done business with an Machens Automotive Group on Vandiver Dr in Columbia, Mo. Simply put, this is THE BESTdealership that my husband and I have ever done business with and we give them our highest praise and ratings! We are "Ford" people with a long history of purchases from the Joe Machens Group but the customer service provided by Linda Lawton, Lance Burns and Gene Buck FAR exceeded any other dealership we have ever dealt with. Not only with one purchase, but TWO purchases in less than 2 months. Please allow me to explain as this is a very long story which proves the great customer service we received over an over: We were looking for a slightly used 2013 Ford Escape SEL in white when we happened to drive onto the JM Vandiver lot on a Saturday morning in late January 2014. We were greeted by Linda Lawton who was very friendly, professional and extremely knowledgable about Ford products. In addition, she had a beautiful smile and honest demeanor that immediately put us at ease. We searched the inventory but couldn't find exactly what we were looking for in-stock. 'No problem' she said, and took us straight into Lance Burns' office (Sales Manager-you know, they are the ones that typically sit on elevated platforms at the back of the showroom and only speak to sales reps as they run back and forth during negotiations? Drives me crazy!). Well, Lance sat us right down at his desk and in a matter of seconds, found our perfect vehicle! It was being delivered to JM over the weekend and would be ready for pick up the next Monday morning. How cool is that!? We were trading in a 2006 Ford Escape so they took it and gave us a beautiful 2013 Ford Escape SE to drive over the weekend. Wow! Oh, and I did I mention Lance even gave us vouchers for free lunches at a local restaurant? How awesome was that??? So Monday came and I was so excited. Upon inspection of the car however, we found a dent in the passenger door. Linda checked with the body shop and they thought they could get it out without repainting so Lance immediately approved the repair - no problem. So we left the car and drove home in the loaner again. Two days later we returned. The dentless repair cracked the tri-coat finish so we checked with the body shop again and they said they would have to completely repaint the entire door. Oh no. But Lance never batted an eye and immediately approved the repair with a smile - no problem! He was so nice, upbeat and courteous! So 5 days later, we came for the car again. This time it was perfect! Yey! Wa-hoo! We closed the deal and signed the papers in the Finance Manager's (Gene Buck) office within minutes. He, too, was very courteous, respectful, knowledgable and so funny! We were so happy with the vehicle and with all of the great customer service that we sang (and continue to sing) their praises to family, friends and everyone else if the topic came up. But, the story doesn't end there..... Three weeks later, on a Saturday evening, I was hit head-on by a bigger, heavier, older SUV who had lost control and spun-out on the icy road. THANK YOU, FORD, FOR YOUR AMAZING AIRBAGS! They saved my life that night. I walked away without a scratch even though my Escape was a total loss. Unbelievable. So, I was without a car again. To make matters worse, the driver of the other car had only the minimal insurance coverage required by state law -- so then the battle of the insurance companies began. While they battled it out, I had to rent a car out-of-pocket (to be reimbursed later, right?). A couple days later I called Linda Lawton and Lance Burns and told them what happened, that I needed to buy another car, that I was paying for a rental out-of-pocket, and that it would be a week to 10 days before I would get an insurance check. Well what do you suppose they did? Yep. They had me return the rental car I was paying for and put me in a brand new 2014 Ford Escape and told me to drive it as long as I needed to. What?? Really?? For free?? Even for 10 days until my insurance settlement? YEP again! They did just that and were happy to do so. Double wow!! I've NEVER experienced that kind of customer service before. Even though I knew THEY knew they would get another sale from me, they never acted like it. I felt their concern and compassion was truly genuine. When I finally received the insurance check and returned the new 2014 Ford Escape, I walked in to the dealership and EVERYONE greeted me and asked how I was doing and if I was OK. That was so nice and meant a lot to me. I had been searching the JM website for another used 2013 Ford Escape like the one I had, but couldn't find one. So we decided to go with a new 2014 Escape (yes, the loaner paid off.). Linda Lawton drove us around car lots and found the perfect Escape we were looking for. Lance did his deal thing again and Gene Buck got us an amazing interest rate through our local bank! We were in and out in about an hour! I don't know how to sum all of this up except to say we had the best car buying experience of our lives through the awesome employees at the Joe Machens Automotive Group on Vandiver Dr in Columbia. It is a small dealership which cuts out the hassle you typically experience at the larger dealership on Worley. You can deal face-to-face with the sales manager and the sales person doesn't have to run back-and-forth with offers and counter-offers. You can get in and get out quickly and with the best deal possible. We strongly encourage other people to go to the Vandiver location when purchasing any used or new vehicle because they will treat you with honesty, respect and as a friend. More
