Repair, Recall and purchase I was experiencing a cooling system problem with my 2011 Traverse. The gauge showed that the car was close to overheating. I called the service depar I was experiencing a cooling system problem with my 2011 Traverse. The gauge showed that the car was close to overheating. I called the service department on Monday and they told me to bring it in after lunch and they would try to look at it that afternoon. Once I arrived at the dealership they took the information and after a short while it was evident because of a backlog they would not be able to get to it for a while. Service writer, Randy, told me they would like to put me in a loaner vehicle that I could use until the next day. This would give them time to check the problem and determine the correct solution. The last time I brought the vehicle in for service, Bruce, the service manager, had told me that my vehicle was in the group being recalled for seat belt and air bag problems. So, I asked if they could take care of the service recall at this time since they would have it over night. He stated they this should be no problem if they had all the parts in stock. So this was added to the list. Ten days before on a Saturday I had to have a tire repaired. When I got to the dealership It was almost time to close. Randy, the service writer, went the extra mile and worked it around to have a tech stay and do the repair. After the tire was repaired, Randy told me that they found the tread was getting low on the tires and for safety I probably needed to begin to think about replacing them. I asked him to get me a price and e-mail it to me. He did this and sent me the prices the first of the next week. During the week I had compared prices and felt good about the prices he had sent me, so since they were going to have to keep the car, I asked Randy if they could go ahead and put a set of tires on the car. He checked and found they could get the tires I needed in the next day and get them on for me and have the car ready by Tuesday afternoon. I told them to go ahead and put on the tires. I called the dealership on Tuesday and was told the tech had checked the vehicle and the problem was with the gauge and the entire gauge cluster would have to be replace since you could not replace individual gauges. I told them I had an extended warranty through American Auto Shield that would cover this. I gave them the contact information so they could contact the company. They told me it would be the next day before they could get the part in and install it so I would need to keep the loaner and contact them the next day to see when the car would be ready. I called back Wednesday afternoon to inquire about my vehicle and Bruce told me that he had an emergency come up with one of his techs and they had not been able to complete the work on my vehicle but it would be ready before noon the next day. I told him we had a trip to Atlanta planned and for that day and would not be able to pick the vehicle up until Friday. He told me to keep the loaner and use it as I needed. On Friday morning I returned to the dealership to pick up my vehicle. Bruce told me they had been able to complete everything except the recall for the front seat belt anchor (recall 14187). They still did not have the sleeve that was required in stock and would take care of that the next time I came in for service. He had worked with American Shield on the extended warranty and was able to cover all except my warranty deductible. He went over the costs for the work and then went with me to the cashier for me to close out and return the key to the loaner vehicle. The work took longer than originally projected, but I was not inconvenienced because they provide me with transportation that met my needs. Bruce was up front with everything about the parts, the service and the reason for the delays. Randy was helpful in getting me the tires I needed and looking out for my safety. I appreciated their friendly attitude and gracious service. I will be glad to have them handle any service and repair problems I may have in the future. More
