Wow. I had heard good things about Coleman Honda, and the price they quoted me (over the phone) for a Pilot was fair, so I headed in there tonight. When I arrived, the salesman I had dealt with over the the price they quoted me (over the phone) for a Pilot was fair, so I headed in there tonight. When I arrived, the salesman I had dealt with over the phone (John Panetta) handed me off to his "sales partner", Kean Thompson, and things went downhill from there. I drove the Pilot and was interested enough to go in and sit down with Kean. His initial demeanor (bored, impatient) was off-putting, but I figured that it isn't about his personality, it's about the deal, so I gave him my car keys for appraisal & began the process. Kean repeatedly asked me to fill out a credit app, and I repeatedly told him that I would do so if he presented me with numbers that I felt were fair. I also told him that I would not want to deal if I got a "decide now or no deal" quote - and he assured me that he would never do that. So he comes back with the numbers, and the appraisal on my car is thousands LESS than the carmax appraisal, and also he had jacked UP the price of the Pilot I wanted. I pointed this out and, sure enough, got the "What price do I have to get to for you to commit to buying tonight" line. Blah blah, same-old same-old, "I have to check with my manager while leaving you waiting for hours", blah ensued. 3 hours later, he came back with papers and tried to hustle me off to finance, but when I looked at the papers I saw that he had not moved even $1 either on the sale price or on the trade in offer. I pointed this out and he said they would "make my payments work" in finance, not to worry. Well I was stupid enough to be there for 3 hours but not stupid enough to fall for that one, and I asked for my own car keys back so I could leave. He became furious and thrust them back at me and refused to speak any further. Like *I* had inconvenienced *him*! So I am going to carmax, and would never try Coleman Honda again. Bottom Line: Ignorant, rude, old-school tactics, and underhanded. Avoid. More

My wife and I were very pleased with our buying experience at Jim Coleman Honda, specifically with TJ Vamos. Even though he has been with the dealership for only a few months I was impressed with experience at Jim Coleman Honda, specifically with TJ Vamos. Even though he has been with the dealership for only a few months I was impressed with his knowledge of Honda vehicles as well as his knowledge of the competition. For questions he didn't know, such as whether the CR-V had an interfering engine or non-interfering engine with regards to the timing chain, TJ sought out the answers for me. TJ also recognized that I had done significant research before I had committed to buying a car over Memorial Day and made our buying decision as easy as possible during this busy time at the dealership. I am a little surprised at some of the bad reviews from some reviewers after having such a good experience. Discussions with other employees were also pleasant and effective. We got the financing we wanted in less than 30 minutes. We will be coming back again after such an easy experience, and we got a great price to boot. More

We purchased our Honda Pilot at Coleman Honda 7 years ago and had a great experience both with the buying process and subsequent service. When our daughter decided to buy a new car, we encouraged her to buy and had a great experience both with the buying process and subsequent service. When our daughter decided to buy a new car, we encouraged her to buy a Honda and to go to Coleman's. She looked at several dealerships in three states and finally went to Coleman's last weekend prepared for a difficult time. My husband and I went along to lend support. But as soon as we started working with TJ Vamos, we all relaxed and actually enjoyed the experience. TJ was extremely knowledgeable, personable, and a great listener. There was no manipulation or typical car dealer pushiness. We left without making a deal because our daughter really needed to review her finances before taking the next step. TJ followed up a few days later to let her know the color she wanted was available but that was all. We returned today and TJ gave our daughter a great deal on a Civic. She is thrilled and it was wonderful that her first buying experience was so positive. We had such a great time and the deal was so amazing that my husband is considering a new car now!
