Stay Away! My husband and I just completed a Chapter 13 Bankruptcy and I needed a new(er) car. I had been researching vehicles for months and knew that I was in My husband and I just completed a Chapter 13 Bankruptcy and I needed a new(er) car. I had been researching vehicles for months and knew that I was interested in a used Acura RDX or a used Jeep Grand Cherokee. I filled out an online application with a company that supposedly worked with people just coming out of a bankruptcy. They directed me to Kia and a lady named Karla (w/Kia called me). Karla was helpful and nice and said they could have a couple of Acura RDXs there for me to look at. That is the last and only good thing I have to say about Jenkins Kia. I will try to make my 3 hour ordeal a short story rather than long. I feel I need to mention first that I was very upfront about my bankruptcy discharge and that I was looking to re-build my credit. I was taken to their run down offices and paired with salesman Jeff who said he was a good guy who did not pressure, etc. - basic good 'ol boy attitude. He wanted me to see a new 2016 Kia Sorrento ("because why by used when a new one would cost the same?" ) This was basically a ruse to later tell me that I need to "lower my expectations" and pretty much "what the h-e-double L was I looking at a new car anyway in my financial circumstances?" I reminded him that he directed me to the new car. He also said I was in no position to bargain and pretty much had to accept what I was offered. Oh, and when I first got there, he said "you don't want an Acura - that's for a certain class of people..." Mind you, I work in a professional job probably earning more than he does and dressed better than he did. He then tried to sell me on a 2014 Kia Sorrento. What a joke. It REEKED of cigarette smoke, had gouges in the interior plastic and had cloth seats (the one thing I said I did not want). When I pointed all of this out, he said "It's used!" Ok, did he think I was that stupid? Yea, I'm a woman so he probably did. My 12 year old used car looked way better than their 2 year old used car. He tried to pull every trick in the book (I researched used car salesman tricks/tatics before looking). At one point, when I told him terms on the new Kia weren't acceptable, he said "you're killing me...my boss is gonna yell at me!" I told him that I was sure he said that to everyone and I did not feel sorry for him. Another time, when I was outside, he banged on the class and motioned for me to come inside to tell me he had a "great deal" on that sub-standard used car. How tacky. Banging on glass and summoning me inside? Really? I had had enough and told him I was hungry and heading for lunch. He insisted he was going to submit my application for the stinky used car. I told him not to because I was not interested. He said he'd submit it anyway and to call him after lunch (yea, right) and he'd find more cars to look at. I never did get to see the Acuras. I could not get out of there fast enough. I ate lunch, called BMW of Ocala (who had driven a car from the BMW of Gainesville for me to look at) and headed over there. They treated me like gold. I was treated no differently than someone buying a $90,000 BMW. Beautiful showroom/offices, refreshments, peaceful. I was given a very fair deal on a 2013 Jeep Grand Cherokee Overland Summit and couldn't be happier. If you want a pleasant car buying experience, go see Frank at BMW of Ocala. Oh, and do your research (on cars, prices and used salesmen!) More
