Needing a new key for an old car turned into something else. My wife and I went to the service department yesterday morning to have a new key made for our 1998 Accord LX. The service advisor told us that it woul My wife and I went to the service department yesterday morning to have a new key made for our 1998 Accord LX. The service advisor told us that it would take at least an hour to program the key so we went up to the show room to look at the new models. That is where salesman Tom Jones introduced himself and we began our adventure at Jeff Wyler Honda. I told Tom that I had been looking on their web site at a 1998 Accord LX similar to ours but with about 100,000 fewer miles. Lets just say it looked better on the computer than it did in person. While I was looking at the "98 Accord"s engine my wife spotted a white 2009 Accord that changed our plans for that day. My wife, Tom and I went on a test drive and we both knew this was the perfect car for us. After the test drive was over I went to the service department and the service advisor took me back to the bay where my car was on the lift being inspected. I was shown several serious problems including a noticeable oil leak and was told that they would give me an estimate to repair the car. The estimate turned out to be about half of what I paid for the car five years ago. Tom advised me that it was time to cut my losses and get rid of that car and I knew he was right. I felt very blessed that nothing bad had happened while driving that car after being shown what was going on underneath the engine compartment! Tom offered me a fair trade in value so long story short we went to get a new key and we got one but it came along with my wife's dream car. Funny how things work out that way. More
