Forget the stereotypical car buying experience at this d Hurray for Austin Armstrong--the best car salesperson we have met in 50 years of car buying. Forget the stereotypical car buying experience at this dealership and with this young man. Though all the dealership people we met in the several hours we spent there were helpful and cordial, in particular, Austin won us over with his unassuming, genuine, friendly and knowledgeable persona. We were looking for another Subaru (yes, we already own one older model) which would provide us more safety as we grew older. But there was so much to learn about the newest models. Austin patiently went over all the features most important to us, took us for a nice long ride to demonstrate, and never showed impatience as we asked him to review this or that. In fact, as we talked, it became clear that he really loved Subarus (he is an owner) and the company, too. We moved from one trim model to another over the course of two visits and (a surprise to us) we decided near the end of our negotiating to add in a trade-in, an older Prius. No problem. The dealing moved forward without hitches and at a pace that matched our needs. We're real happy with our purchase, so far. And within this past week, Austin has contacted us twice to see how things are going. Pretty nice, we think. He just seems like a good guy who wants to treat you fairly while selling you a car. The company and dealership win, he wins and so do we. I will recommend him and this dealership highly--in fact, already have. More

It was the only car we had ever had the luxury of building to suit the needs of our family. Our 2016 Outback took great care of our family every day...down to the moment that we hit a deer while cruising at 70 mph on a highway heading toward an important family gathering. My husband and I were the only ones in the car. Thankfully, the kids were safely at home with their grandma. What a truly intense and unforgettable experience. Luckily, we made it unscathed...so unbelievably blessed! Our sweet Outback, however, was totaled. Two week later we found ourselves at Janesville Subaru. We were healthy and happy, but felt nervous about going through the process of buying a new family car. From the moment we stepped foot in the door, Austin stepped in and to made sure that our experience in buying our new Outback was comfortable and met our needs and expectations in every way. Austin has been a pleasure to work with and has offered us exemplary customer service as we get settled with our new family vehicle. More
Great car purchase I did a lot of research online in preparing to buy a new outback. Janesville Subaru gave me the information I needed and the price to buy from them. I did a lot of research online in preparing to buy a new outback. Janesville Subaru gave me the information I needed and the price to buy from them. Our sales person Austin Armstrong was knowledgeable, helpful and great to deal with. Best sales help we have had for 30 years, just down to earth practical knowledge on vehicles and willingness to share openly and honestly. I made several online inquiries and the online staff at Janesville Subaru was prompt replying both online and by phone, without their help I would’ve never made it in to see Austin and I would have bought from someone else. Karino Moreno was great help and I said I would not have ever contacted Janesville Subaru again without her great help. Price was main consideration initially while shopping online and never would have even contacted Janesville Subaru if not competitive. More

As a resu My wife despises high pressure sales tactics and on more than one occasion has stood up and walked out of car dealerships that xxxx her off. As a result, we go on Sunday's when there are no sales people to bother us while we look at the cars until she finds a couple that attract her fancy. Then she usually sends me out to scout the dealership sales people to find someone who will not be a total &*@#. (my own edit but you get the meaning) We were down to three choices, we had already had two back to back Foresters and they were the best vehicle we had owed so far so that was one option, then there was the Mitsubishi Eclipse Cross which is one of the most exciting looking SUV's on the market, and the Subaru CrossTrek which was similar to the Eclipse but not a cool looking. After doing a test drive of the CrossTrek and the Eclipse, it was decided that even though the Mitsubishi was sharper looking, the Subaru was a better built vehicle. We had to wait a month before the 2019 Foresters showed up and after looking at the color options online she had thought instead of the usual white that our first two Foresters were, that new green was interesting. SO one day when I was in Janesville for a dentist visit, I though I would stop in to the Janesville Subaru dealership and look around. Surprise... they had just gotten in the new 2019's and they even had a green one. While I was looking at them, one of the salespeople who was moving a vehicle stopped and asked if I needed help. I told him I was checking out the new green forester that my wife was interested in and was glad to see they had finally shown up. He asked if I wanted to test drive it and I told him I was just stopping by after the dentist and would let my wife know when she got home from work that they were in and we would probably come in over the weekend and check it out together. Instead of being pushy, he said he would give me his card and I should call him when we were ready to check it out. As he reached into his pocket to grad a card, he realized he had left his cards on his desk so I offered to give him my "Funguy The Entertainer" card and told him to just watch one of my shows and make a comment on that show what his name was so I would remember him. When I got home later that evening, low and behold, Austin and watched one of my shows and let me know who he was and again was not pushy. I was so impressed with that, I told my wife about him. The next day, Friday, right after she gets home from work she said instead of waiting until Sunday to go back and look at the green Forester we should go right then. I called Austin and told him we were on the way and would be there in about 30 minutes and we wanted to test drive the new 2019 green forester and Crosstrek. Once we got there, Austin was ready with the keys to the new green forester and went with use on a nice 5 minute test drive. Then he grabbed the keys to a CrossTrek and did the same thing. The whole time I did a running commentary for my wife about the handling, feel, comfort and viability of each and Austin answered any questions we had. After we got back we went inside to talk. One of the lines every single car salesman says after you test drive one of their vehicles is "So what will it take to get you to buy this car today"? Austin did not disappoint and of course my wife and I knew it was coming. My wife always likes to take a couple of days to make her decision, but after the test drive I already knew it was the new 2019 Forester that she wanted but she did not want to be pressured into it. I won't tell you my negotiation technique, but the thing that made this whole sale work was Austin was not only not pushy, he did not do the usual "let me get the sales manager in here" thing that would have made us walk out. Now to finish this story, I negotiated with Austin and of course he got approval for the sales manager without having to have him come to us and ruin a good thing and we now own a beautiful 2019 Green Forester and Austin is now on my Christmas Card list! xxxx, I might even put him on my show! Disappointing initial contact, felt very dishonest I was searching for dealers with discounts on new Subarus, and found a car listed by Janesville Subaru with a significant discount. I verified that th I was searching for dealers with discounts on new Subarus, and found a car listed by Janesville Subaru with a significant discount. I verified that their website also reflected this significant discount, so I reached out via the website to confirm if it was a price mistake or not. I received an initial response telling me the vehicle was available for an immediate test drive, but with a much higher price than what was shown on the website. I was told that to get that price I would need to step down to a basic model, so I explained that I was just confirming if the price online was accurate, or a mistake. I was asked to provide a picture of what I was seeing, and I did, plus a link to the website directly. Instead of just telling me it was a mistake, as I suspected it might be, I was told the car was actually sold already. So somehow in the course of our 26 minute e-mail conversation the car went from being available for an immediate test drive to sold. Maybe that's true, but it certainly doesn't seem likely, and all they had to do was be honest and say they made a mistake on their website. I would have been more than happy to visit the dealer and complete the sale today, as it was a significant discount reflected on their website, or I could have just moved on if they had just confirmed what I suspected was a mistake in pricing. If I can't get honesty during the initial contact, how can I expect it through the rest of the sales process? Very disappointing considering how much Subaru promotes their "Subaru Love Promise". More
