Tldr: finance person threw a threatening fit, car developed issues they tried to fix and didn't, title took over a month plus to get past my registration dates, but the salesman Connor was cool enoug developed issues they tried to fix and didn't, title took over a month plus to get past my registration dates, but the salesman Connor was cool enough to justify 2 stars(believe the bad reviews).. read more for details I bought a used 2020 Hybrid Rav 4 XSE in October 2024 after having my 2019 platinum xle rav 4 totaled and this may have been the worst experience in buying a car so far. I will give credit where credit is due and that is Connor is a great dude as a sales agent who worked very hard to get everything situated and make the 3 hour drive for purchase worth it. However, during the signing and because I chose to use my own bank and avoid the 2k add on of warranties that are just dealership money making tools in most cases and brought a bank note with my 10k down payment, I felt i got punished by getting screamed at and threatened by the finance guy. Thisead to me almost walking out after a bancfirst bank president had to call me to see why a dealership in Oklahoma wouldn't except the note from a prominent OK bank that was blocks down the road. I should have stopped the purchase there but having totaled my car was a more in need then I let on, plus 6 hours on the road to find the car i had researched and was in good enough seeming condition to replace my lost car. Flash to a few weeks later and the remote start has stopped working, the rear liftgate has stopped operating properly and it turns out the don't have a title for and never let me know this while my tag requirements(our state changed the process) was coming do. They had been working to get the title in but seemingly not as hard and fast as in took over a month. I won't be to critical here because apparently that's common in the used car world. Still though general mechanics of the car were problematic. The sales manager and Connor offered to bring in my car and fix the issues to offer good faith and provided a loaner for 3 days while they "diagnosed and fixed the issues." Upon getting my car back the liftgate stopped working and threw an error noise(late December btw) and the remote start issues was to call the app which as of now is take it back to the dealership and do x process. In short Connor was the only pleasant part of this process because he did try and as a sales associate was great. The dealership itself unfortunately I cannot only not recommend but would advise any other toyota dealership and I regret not using my local dealership which has always been amazing. More
I can finally give this dealership’s Service Dept 5 stars thanks to JAMES! Unlike the worst service I’ve previously received by someone else with a “J” name, JAMES gets 10 STARS! Did not disclose that they were selling me a Canadian car. The car only had 33k miles. I have no manufacture warranty, and no safety recall warranty. With such a low inventory you would think they would have time to unlock the vehicles and post a price sheet. Very disappointed with selection and no information posted in the window. I have bought 2 vehicles at this dealership in the past but things seem to of went down hill since I visited last time. Get your xxxx together James Hodge! More
We live an hour and a half away and I have been looking for a truck for a few months. I decided I liked a truck at James Hodge Toyota Stock#P08542. I came in on Saturday 8/26/23 and when I pulled up to th for a truck for a few months. I decided I liked a truck at James Hodge Toyota Stock#P08542. I came in on Saturday 8/26/23 and when I pulled up to the lot I tried to look in the truck to see if I was even interested. All the doors were locked so I drove my vehicle to the store and when I got out I was greeted by 2 sales guys in red shirts. It was rather intimidating as I wasn't sure which one I was supposed to be dealing with. They the younger one (without) the beard was by far the nicest one. The guy with the scruffy dark beard was an arrogant buffoon. I test drove the truck with the younger friendlier guy (thank God). When we got back and walked into the building it sounded like I had entered a night club with VERY loud pounding rap and Spanish rap music. It was so loud I couldn't think or hear my wife when she was talking. I asked the sales guy what the price of the truck was (I already knew, because I did my homework before I got to the dealership). The sales guy with the scruffy beard and arrogant attitude took over the conversation and told me he didn't know the price and asked me "how much are you wanting to pay for the truck?" I was stunned by his answer and his question. I told him I would like to know the price because the friendlier guy told him he thought it was in the low $30,000's but the arrogant buffoon stated no its not and the price could be lower so we need a stock sheet. After about 6-8 minutes later he came back with 2 stock sheets, one for the truck I was looking at (and was prepared to purchase) and the other for another truck about 15 thousand more and that I had not asked about. After he got the stock sheets I again asked him what the price was, he stated "they don't give us the price, I know its stupid but they don't give us the price". I told him that this was absurd and did not make sense. I again stated I want to know hoe much the truck is, he then stated it was around the lower to mid 30s. lol I pressed further and he said it is 33,000-34,000 and maybe 35,000. I giggled inside because I realized what a complete imbecile he was and that he had no idea what he was doing. Then he showed me the stock sheet and said "brand new this truck cost this amount" and he pointed to a number. I was not impressed and told him, I am NOT buying this truck brand new and so the new price means nothing to me, again I asked, "what is the price of this truck?" He said "well I am not sure but probably around $35,000. At this point I was DONE wasting my time. I looked at him and told him I knew the price of the truck the whole time and that I was VERY turned off by his lack of knowledge and approach and at that point we got up and walked out. What he doesn't realize is I drove that far to purchase. My experience at JH Toyota was like none I have EVER had in my many times of purchasing a vehicle. Whoever screens these people for careers in sales needs to be fired first and second this scruffy looking sales dude needs to be a close second. Third the manager who allows this place to be run like a disco or night club needs to be educated on the professional environment of an auto dealer. Yes, I think being fun and energetic is GREAT and your sales people should have a personality to be successful, but cranking the music up to a decibel that you cannot hear to do business only runs people off. There are too many Toyota dealers within close proximity to Muskogee without having to deal with this place. And by the way, I would have posted the 2 guys names, but neither introduced themselves much less gave a name. More
