I purchased a Certified Pre Owned 2010 VW CC 2.0T from this dealership. I spoke with the sales person, and told him the price I wanted to pay per month. He said this wouldn't be a problem, and made a quic this dealership. I spoke with the sales person, and told him the price I wanted to pay per month. He said this wouldn't be a problem, and made a quick sale. He didn't drop the price on the vehicle; instead he gave me the Internet price that the car was listed for on their web site. After my test drive I noticed several issues with the vehicle. The entire passenger side had nothing but scratches on it, including a dent on the front passenger side door, and a deep scratch on the rear passenger side door. The headlights had dried up condensation inside the housing, and the Carfax report said that the bulbs had been replaces twice on the vehicle. Also, the wheel wells were broken/cracked on both sides. Well for all you buyers, this really doesn't sound like a Certified Pre Owned vehicle now does it??... It actually sounds like a completely used vehicle, which had a warranty, smacked onto it in order to make more money. Before I purchased the vehicle, I asked the sales rep to repair the scratches, the dent, and replace the headlights since there was an obvious problem with it. The dent was taken care of before I picked up the vehicle, but the scratches were ignores, and so were the headlights as well as the wheel wells which I didn’t even catch until after I purchased the vehicle. My biggest mistake was picking up the vehicle when they didn't finish the job that was asked of them. I showed the sales rep the scratches on the car before I drove away and asked if there was anything he could do about it. "He said bring it back and Ill speak to the sales manager and see if we can help you out in order to keep you happy." My work schedule changes every week, so I can never keep up with the things I have to do outside of work... After about a month in a half, I called the sales rep and told him that I was ready to bring in the car so they could take care of the scratches. The answer I got wasn't something any car buyer wants to hear. "His answer was, well since its been so long, I wouldn't know if you put the scratches in the car or not... EVEN AFTER I SHOWED HIM ALL OF THE SCRATCHES TO THE T BEFORE I DROVE AWAY IN THE VEHICLE"!!! I wasn't very happy about this answer, and asked him to speak to someone about this so they could fix the issue, which were supposed to be taken care of before I picked up the vehicle. If they would have simply told me that "Sorry, CPO vehicles come in this condition and you will be buying it as is when I asked about the scratches to be repaired,” I would never have purchased the vehicle in the first place. I instead purchased this vehicle thinking that Jack Daniels sold quality vehicles in exceptional condition. "Be ware buyers, this is not the case." I then got a callback from the sales rep, and was told that I needed to call service in order to resolve this issue. Now, I have worked in retail for many years, and I have always been told, that if there is an issue with the customer, you resolve the issue your self, don't leave it up to other people to resolve it for you. Well, this was just the beginning of the issues I had/am currently having with this vehicle. Within a week after I spoke to the sales rep. regarding the scratches, my driver’s side light bulb blew... Now if you read the huge complaint I have written so far, it states that I asked them to check the headlights, and replace them since they obviously had water damage inside them at some point. Angry as I was, I called Jack Daniels service, and spoke to the service rep regarding the issues I was having. Walleh understood my concerns and asked me to bring in my vehicle so they could check up on it. He also said that they would most likely be able to replace the used lights with another cars used lights that had no damage, and see if they could take care of the Wheel wells, and the scratches which were originally neglected. When I went there the conversation changed drastically from swapping the headlights, to asking the manager if they could even do anything. I was given a loaner car Thursday 7/18/13, and was told that I would receive a callback by Monday 7/22/13. Instead of getting a call back from Walleh, I received a call back from a lady named Michelle who proceeded to tell me that headlight bulbs can blow multiple times within 3 months of time, and I would just have to replace them multiple times, and that I would have to pay for the scratches, and pretty much that there was nothing that they were willing to do. After hearing this, I was infuriated, and called VW Customer care to file a complaint against Jack Daniels. "IF YOU EVER HAVE A PROBLEM WITH A DEALER, FILE A COMPLAINT WITH VW DIRECTLY. THEY WILL PUSH THE DEALER TO DO THEIR JOB." Thanks to VW they had them replace the headlights that the DEALER STILL THOUGHT DIDNT NEED TO BE REPLACES AFTER 3 BLOWN BULBS... They also had them replace the Cracked Wheel well, which they messed my body panel up while doing the replacement, and they also re-inserted my old wheel well incorrectly. I called them back and asked for management to fix the issues, and I still cant get in contact with management after a week of arguing and leaving voicemails. Regarding the scratches, since paint isn't a warranted on the car, the dealership refuses to fix it, even though they were asked to fix the issue before the car was purchased. I just wish I was told that there was absolutely nothing they could do about the paint when I was purchasing the vehicle, so this way I could have shopped around somewhere else. I was instead told yesterday that since I bargained the price of the 2010 CPO VW CC 2.0T down to 15,900.00 after a 2K deposit which the KBB online price of the vehicle is at $14,500.00… YEAH, GREAT DEAL GUYS! The scratches still couldn’t be taken out because the price was somehow bargained down. DEAR JACK DANIELS, DONT LIE TO YOUR CUSTOMERS. IF YOU ARENT GOING TO DO SOMETHING SAY SO RIGHT FROM THE GETGO, AND DONT TELL PEOPLE THAT SINCE YOU BARGANED THE PRICE WE CANT DO ANYTHING. IT JUST MAKE YOU LOOK STUPID, SINCE THE CAR ISNT WORTH AS MUCH AS YOU SOLD IT FOR... The only reason I even paid that price was because I wanted warranty, which proved to be a headache since the dealership wont lift a finger without the customer going through xxxx. Sincerely, David A. DO NOT BUY FROM THESE PEOPLE!!! More
I consider buying a car, and negotiating with dealerships, a thoroughly unpleasant experience, but I thought that Diana was easy to work with and a fair and direct negotiator. There's still a lot I'd rather do than buy a car, but Diana did her job well and I was happy with the experience. More
When I needed to buy a car, I called Diana Cecere, of When I needed to buy a car, I called Diana Cecere, of Jack Daniels Volkswagen, in Fair Lawn, to guide me through the process, step by step. I live When I needed to buy a car, I called Diana Cecere, of Jack Daniels Volkswagen, in Fair Lawn, to guide me through the process, step by step. I live out of state, but I had known Diana for many years, and greatly respected her knowledge of her product and her personal integrity. If I lived in New Jersey, I would have bought the car from Diana. Diana doesn’t intimidate the customer with a hard sell, but rather educates the buyer – even one like me, who started off knowing nothing about cars – so that I was in the driver’s seat when I made my purchase. Diana is an outstanding listener and she is patient, so I felt comfortable asking her questions – even those that other more rushed salespeople might have brushed aside as being “dumb.” Diana helped me realize that there are no “dumb” questions that you may ask when buying a car. She understood how important it is for the buyer to make an informed decision. Diana helps people to evaluate their needs, based on the ages of their family members and/or the how they plan to use the car – whether for commuting short distances and parking in tight spaces on a daily basis; taking long road trips with luggage; whether fitting a child’s car seat into the back, or comfortably meeting the needs of an elderly person who has trouble getting in and out of a car. Diana taught me to check DealerRater.com to be sure I was buying from a reputable dealership. She insisted that since I was buying a used car, I must ask the salesperson to provide me with the CarFax vehicle history report, which reveals the mileage on the car; whether the car has been in accidents; what kinds of maintenance it has received; whether it is a flood car – etc.. Diana taught me the meaning of buying a “certified pre-owned vehicle,” and advised me on how to make the best use of Consumer Reports when evaluating both how various used cars have performed over time; and how much a given used vehicle should cost. (You can subscribe to Consumer Reports online for about $7 per month, so that you can compare reports on various brands and models as you shop, and you can read about how the car that interests you has performed over time. ) Diana insisted that I be sure, before I put money down on a pre-owned car, that I was buying it at a fair price and that it contained all of the features that it would have come with when new -- for example: tires in good condition, (and she taught me how to check the tires); floor mats in the seating area and trunk; any keys that might be needed to that unlocks the spare wheel; new batteries in the car lock device, etc.. Finally, Diana counseled me through the process of closing the deal, working out payment, and buying my warranty. I bought a Tiguan. Thanks to Diana’s help, I closed the deal at a fair price. I LOVE it! And I emerged with a new skill that I’ll value and use for the rest of my life: the ability to wisely and confidently buy a new or used car. Thanks, Diana Cecere! More
