You know the saying ‘you can’t trust a used car person, they’re just snakes in the grass’. Well it’s not true of all places. I had great experiences with three vehicles. However, when it comes to J & R Aut they’re just snakes in the grass’. Well it’s not true of all places. I had great experiences with three vehicles. However, when it comes to J & R Auto Sales they take the cake. The words honest, truthful, and fair are not in their vocabulary. Sure if everything is fine everyone is happy but if you find a problem they are Snakes in the Grass. They are ruthless and very unfair. They live for the dollar- just get the money and screw the customers if anything faulty is found. They sold me a car knowing the heater didn’t work and hoped I wouldn’t know for a couple months. It’s a 1700 fix and they wouldn’t even meet me halfway with the expense. Don’t bother shopping at this business. They are very nasty. More
DO NOT BUY A VEHICLE FORM HERE unless you like overpriced vehicles and being treated like crap! Would never recommend anyone to buy a car from here. If I could go back in time I would. Vehicle was $1,000 ove vehicles and being treated like crap! Would never recommend anyone to buy a car from here. If I could go back in time I would. Vehicle was $1,000 overpriced if it was in KBB excellent condition value which it wasn’t. A salesperson raised his voice at us when we attempted to negotiate price. They wouldn’t negotiate at all for paying cash all upfront. Thought it was a nice car but 2 weeks later it started shuttering while driving it. Won’t show a check engine light. Could be a transmission problem, engine problem, or multiple issues. They wouldn’t do a return of any kind (we would have considered paying a fee). We asked when the last time the oil had been changed. They said, “If it looks clean we don’t do anything with it.” They also told us they would let us know when the title came in to pick it up. Three weeks later no call so we had to contact them. They told us that when we came to pick up the title we could bring in the car to have their shop check it out. We asked if Saturday would work because we live out of town. They said no Saturdays. Asked if someone else could pick up title. They said yes, just sign for it, but didn’t request any additional info as far as who would pick it up. When we asked more questions on what the person picking up needs to know he yelled, “YOUR BOYFIREND ALREADY CALLED HERE! IT’S A PIECE OF PAPER THAT YOU SIGN!” The entire experience buying a car and dealing with the workers has been terrible. They are condescending and rude people. Either they don’t check the vehicle thoroughly, or they knew it had problems the whole time. If you waste your life on them, they’ll set you back thousands of dollars. Remember, there are plenty of places you can go to instead. Wouldn’t recommend at all. More
J&R sold us a complete lemon with issue on the engine and coolant system. These issues were apparent within the first few days. We tried talking to them about the issues and they wanted nothing to do with coolant system. These issues were apparent within the first few days. We tried talking to them about the issues and they wanted nothing to do with us. Their cars and their service are terrible and I will never buy a car from them again and will pass this info along to anyone I can. More
Here’s a place I will never be buying a car from again. The car I test drove had the check engine light appear. When I arrived back to the dealership I was told it was just a coil pack and it was clear The car I test drove had the check engine light appear. When I arrived back to the dealership I was told it was just a coil pack and it was cleared by the salesman (John M.) I was told by said salesman, “if it comes back on bring it back and I’ll fix it for free.” After bringing it home the check engine came back on and there was an antifreeze smell coming from my car. (I had it for one day.) I told the salesmen at J and R auto of the check engine light being back on and also that there was a hole in my radiator hose. He was no help and told me I needed to drive it back to Sioux falls to have their mechanics look at it and me pay for it. I could not drive a car back 2 and half hours that was leaking antifreeze. I had the radiator hose fixed in Mankato, (a hose their shop at put in before me buying the car), but still has the check engine light on. After finally getting my car looked at, it was more than a coil pack. Both my dad and I have called J and R asking them to fix my car because these problems were there before I bought my car. We have been told “our hands are tied” and to drive it to Sioux Falls so we can pay their mechanics. Only having my car for 3 months and it being a fairly new car it will have cost me thousands to fix. This car should have not been sold to me as is and I will never be buying anything from this place again. Just wanted to share this on social media due to them not being helpful. I am a first time buyer and this group has made my whole experience terrible. They would not listen to me or my dad when we called asking for help so maybe someone will on here. More
Brian smith willing and knowingly sold me an 08 explore knowing the head gasket was blown, his mechanic just kept dumping antifreeze in it , they all knew , just a bug scam knowing the head gasket was blown, his mechanic just kept dumping antifreeze in it , they all knew , just a bug scam More
Don’t buy a car from here! I had a laundry list of problems within the first month-five weeks and called Brian, who sold it to me, to try to see if he would work with me. He accused me of being rude w problems within the first month-five weeks and called Brian, who sold it to me, to try to see if he would work with me. He accused me of being rude while he was yelling at me on the phone and I got nowhere. He said he “didn’t plan at five weeks for the check engine light to come on for me”.??? I repaired it myself because he was so rude I didn’t want to deal with him anymore. Now the car is burning oil, and my dad was with me when I bought it, and he tried talking to Brian. He was even more rude to him than to me. He said he would talk to the “higher ups” about seeing about repairs. That was two weeks ago and still haven’t heard anything. They don’t stand behind what they sell- I had to get an oil change almost immediately after buying the vehicle. I bought a $20,000 used vehicle that I keep having to pour money into. But as Brian says, that’s what you get buying a used vehicle. There wasn’t even floor mats under their white floor papers when I took them off when I got home. Brian is not only the rudest sales person I have ever encountered, but probably the rudest human being I have ever dealt with. If you are going to buy from here, work with someone else! I have bought quite a few used vehicles and have NEVER had an issue until I bought from here. Save your money! More
