It was not a perfect experience, but overall I was pleased. First and foremost, I must say that Michael Daniel, my salesperson, was great. He was not too pushy or overbearing (like a lot of car salespeople I have met) and he seemed to know a lot about the cars that he was selling. He let me leave the showroom on my first visit and did not "threaten" (as they usually do) that the offer will expire that day. I went back 2 days later and was able to pick up where I left off and I liked that. Even though I was sure of the car I was there to lease, Michael insisted I take it for a test drive. And when I returned the 2nd time to make the deal, he even insisted that I do it again - before he would talk final numbers. I thought that was nice of him to take the time to do that with me even knowing that I did not think it necessary. I'll talk more about him after I talk about some of the bad stuff. I ended-up at the dealer after I clicked on a particular lease deal on the MazdaUSA website - a 2015 Mazda 3. A rep named Michelle called me to setup an appointment to view and test-drive the car. But when I arrived for my appointment (the next day) I was told that there were no 2015's. I felt a little disappointed (but not surprised) at what I perceived to be a bait & switch, but because I believed MIchael that he would help me make a similar deal on a 2016, I stuck around. I'm not going to go into why I believe a dealer should or should not allow this type of practice (bait & switch) and am going to leave it alone and let anyone reading this come to their own conclusions. When I returned on the 2nd day, I was prepared to strike a deal. I came prepared with an insurance card and binder for the particular vehicle I was expecting to lease (Michael had pre-provided me with the VIN). After my final test-drive, I spotted minor damage to the passenger size tire wheel-well. I pointed it out to Michael and he sent someone to bring the car to the shop (a quarter mile away) to be repaired while he and I worked-out a deal. a few hours later, when we were done and I had signed the papers, I went outside to find the car with the damage not fixed correctly. I could tell Michael was genuinely shocked - as was I - but the solution of his manager, Joseph, was that I setup an appointment to bring the car for maintenance. I insisted that I would not accept delivery on a vehicle that needed an immediate visit for maintenance because I wanted to drive-off in a "NEW" car, not one in need of repair - no matter how minor. Luckily, it turned out someone named Juan at the service dept was still in the shop and willing to swap the part with one from another donor vehicle. It took about an hour, all tolled, before I got the car and was able to leave, but at least the car was not in need of a repair. What upset me about this part of the day was the fact that someone in the service dept had supposedly fixed the damage the first time and thought it would be OK for me to take delivery either hoping I would not notice or having to return the following week for service. That's not cool. I hope if I ever need service at this dealer that they take more pride in their work than that. In fact, it makes me think I might want to investigate my options if I do require service in the future. Michael stuck it out with me, though, and I know he had better things to do than sit around that extra hour to get my car fixed, so once again I praise his efforts. As to the wheeling-and-dealing part of the visit, I dealt primarily with Joseph DiGarbo. While I will admit I can be difficult, I will say the same about Joseph. I am still not sure if he did not understand some of my concerns about the numbers or if he was just playing a game, but I finally gave up trying to understand exactly what he was trying to make me understand. I felt like we were going in circles. However, in the end, I think I got a decent deal, I think my trade-in was fairly valued, and I would do it again. ============= ** ALSO NOTEWORTHY ** They did not honor a $500 credit that I thought I was entitled to as a Loyal Mazda Customer (I own a 1985 Mazda RX7). I brought the proof of ownership, but was told the age of my vehicle made me ineligible for that offer. Nothing on Mazda's website says anything about the age of the Mazda needed to be owned for that credit. Here's the text from Mazda's website: -- Mazda Owner Loyalty Cash Program $500 is good toward a new 2015 or 2016 Mazda by current Mazda owners. No cash value. The Mazda Owner Loyalty Cash Program CANNOT be combined with other private offers but CAN be combined with other public purchase incentives including, but not limited to, customer cash back, lease and APR incentives/offers. Must be a U.S. resident. Proof of eligibility and residency required. Limit one discount per customer per vehicle. The offer is transferable within household (buyer must live at the same address). Must present dealer with proof of ownership (copy of vehicle registration or title) at time of purchase. Vehicle restrictions apply. Must take new retail delivery from dealer stock by 1/4/2016. See participating dealer for complete details. Offer expires 1/4/2016. More

The sales consultant Christina Buhagair knew what I was looking for and made sure that I was getting a vehicle to satisfy all of my needs. She went through all the different options of this vehicle in detail and gave me a breakdown in the pricing for this vehicle. She gave me detailed pricing of each monthly payment and which options were more beneficial to me. Christina was with me from start to finish, and answered all of the questions that I threw at her about the vehicle. Most importantly she also followed up with me after I made the purchase, just to make sure I'm pleased with the vehicle. That truly shows how much she cares for her customers. The manager and her staff were all very polite and had great customer service. They definitely made this a great experience and also a fun one. I am overall pleased to have Christina as my sales consultant. I highly recommend shopping for a Mazda at Island Mazda with Christina. Thank you Christina for all your help. More

Very good experience I came to this dealership just to browse a few preowned cars I saw online. I had no intentions of buying anything that day since I just leased a truc I came to this dealership just to browse a few preowned cars I saw online. I had no intentions of buying anything that day since I just leased a truck 5 months ago and I owned a 2006 chrysler 300. I was approached by Mike Daniel the salesman and told him my situation and that I was just browsing. We sat at Mikes desk and talked about some of the preowned cars and to see what they would give me for my car. Again, I really had no intentions of purchasing anything , it was just more out of curiosity to see what I could get for my car. I was happy with the number they gave and a trade in sounded more feasible. I sat down with Mike Daniel and he asked me some questions and I could not help but to keep looking at the 2016 mazda 3s touring that was in the showroom. After running some numbers and going for a test drive I got the price I wanted. I walked out with the car that night and was very happy. Mike took the time to go over all the options of the car like the navigation and other gadgets it had. Mike was great and never once pressured me. I would recommend Mike Daniel as a salesman. I love my new car Mike....Thanks! More
