My Wife and I were looking to replace her 2004 Subaru Forester..it seemed like every car dealer we went to wanted to force her into a car she didn't like or wanted to sit us down in the show room and hag Forester..it seemed like every car dealer we went to wanted to force her into a car she didn't like or wanted to sit us down in the show room and haggle back and forth over price. Typical car sales questions like "If i can get my sales manager to OK this deal will you drive the car home today" or "I really don't think he will go for this but... if i can get my sales manager to OK this deal" etc. One young sales manager at a Subaru dealership was extremely rude and that was the last straw. I searched the net and found ZAG and then Manchester Subaru... checked Dealer Rater and From that point on we enjoyed a terrific car buying experience...our entire deal was transacted via e-mail and phone with Matt Knezevic our sales rep. Matt gave us a very fair price for Judy's 04 Forester and he delivered her new 2011 Forester a week after our first contact. We met Matt at Mcdonald's in Manchester Vermont and he had all the paperwork ready for us...half our later we drove home in the new car and Matt drove the 04 away. I'm tellin ya it doesn't get any better than that...great people to do business with. Thanks again Matt and Manchester Subaru, Glenn Marquis More
Researched cars until I new exacatly what I wanted. I used True Cars(Zag) to help me find the best deal. the best deal was at Manchester Subaru. I was contacted by Joey the next day and was provided with used True Cars(Zag) to help me find the best deal. the best deal was at Manchester Subaru. I was contacted by Joey the next day and was provided with excellent no hassle customer service from Day 1. After trying to sell my car myself with no luck and alot of hassle, I decided to trade it in. Joey and management gave me more than anyone for my trade to make deal happen. All negotiation was done by phone and email without having to haggle and go thru the "let me talk to my manager" nonsense. With Joey & Melanies help everything was done prior to me even setting foot in dealership. Express Check Out at a dealership.... Thank you! More
In an attempt to avoid the usual showroom runaround and sales craziness, we shopped for our new Outback online and by phone. Of all the dealers that we contacted, Manchester Subaru was the most profession sales craziness, we shopped for our new Outback online and by phone. Of all the dealers that we contacted, Manchester Subaru was the most professional and offered us the best price on the car that we wanted. When we ultimately went to the dealership to drive the car and sign the paperwork, our experience was excellent. We worked with Matthew Knezevic, the Business Sales Manager, who really went above and beyond to make sure that we were satisfied and comfortable with our new car. A very pleasant experience. Thank you, Matthew! More
Our sales consultant, Jack Berkowitz, was great. He answered all our questions, giving us great information about Subarus in general and more details on the one we were interested in. We did not feel answered all our questions, giving us great information about Subarus in general and more details on the one we were interested in. We did not feel pressure to buy on the spot or lose out. Jack worked with us and haven driven off in a great vehicle which we both love. We are more the willing to let others know what a great consultant Jack is and that Manchester Subaru is the place to go, in fact I already have. More
There are 2 key elements to buying a car, once you've decided on what you wanted: 1. The "deal". That is the cost of the vehicle, and the value for your trade. Thus the final price you end up paying. decided on what you wanted: 1. The "deal". That is the cost of the vehicle, and the value for your trade. Thus the final price you end up paying. 2. The dealership itself - this is a combination of the way you are treated through the entire buying experience. It also includes the service department, and how they interact with customers. Then there are more subtle things like the customer waiting room, the 'atmosphere', how employees interact with each other, the intensity of the sale - are salesmen waiting to jump on you as you enter the parking lot (I actually had a salesman at a different dealership actually chase us on foot as we drove through the lot). Heck even the cleanliness of the bathroom all contribute to the overall impression of the dealership. I've always believed that a business and its people are only as good, and only as happy as their leadership. In this case it trickles down from Todd Berkowitz - owner of this Subaru dealership in Manchester (he also owns Ocean Subaru in N.Hampton, NH). Todd was personable, friendly, reassuring, and didn't come across as a hard-sell salesman. We're educated consumers, we did our homework before entering his dealership. Some places I've been at don't like it when you prepare yourself with details before sitting down to negotiate. That wasn't the case with Todd, he acknowledged this and worked with us with respect. Between Todd, Garry and the finance manager we couldn't have asked for a better purchasing experience. The best indication of a dealership is whether you would buy there again, and would you recommend your friends and family there. I can say wholeheartedly 'YES' to all. If you are anywhere near Manchester NH, or N.Hampton NH - and are looking for a Subaru (or Mitsubishi) go to see these guys. You'll never regret it. More
This was the best car buying experience I ever had. I started the process using Consumer Reports "Build and Buy" service, which identified Manchester Subaru as a participant in the Zag guaranteed price p started the process using Consumer Reports "Build and Buy" service, which identified Manchester Subaru as a participant in the Zag guaranteed price program. I chose the exact model and options that I wanted and was quoted a firm price. Joey LaBranche contacted me within one business day and worked over the course of the week to ensure that he could deliver the exact car I wanted. There was no pressure at all; instead, I felt like he was committed to doing whatever he could to make the deal happen. Once I made the deposit, he worked with his service department to promptly install a couple accessories I requested, and then drove all the way to New York to personally deliver my car to me. He brought all of the paperwork and made it very easy to wrap up the deal. In short, this is the way car buying should be. More
I am not a fan of spending time in a dealership and instead I chose to do everything over the telephone and internet. One of their salesmen, Joey, helped us through the entire process of purchasing instead I chose to do everything over the telephone and internet. One of their salesmen, Joey, helped us through the entire process of purchasing a car.... this was somewhat complicated by the fact that we were out of state. Joey gave me his personal cell phone and I was in frequent contact with him over a period of several days. He was always available.... and that includes nights and weekends when I was not working. He was exceptionally patient, informative, knowledgeable, pleasant......... in short it was a positive experience to interact with Joey. He was not pushy and he came off as being genuine (I would like to think I'm a good judge of character). After I purchased the car I did have a question about the functioning of the car. Joey was both patient and thorough with his answer and gave me as much of his time after he had my money in his pocket as prior to the purchase. Lastly, I do live 3 hours away from the dealership and Joey (on his day off) and one of his colleagues drove the car up to me without any expectations or requesting anything more of me. In short, this was purchased almost entirely over the internet and by phone and everything that was promised to me was delivered without exception. All in all it was an entirely positive experience and I would recommend working with this dealership. More
My new car buying experience is extremely pleasant and smooth. Kevin contacted me by email first and agreed to offer me a good price for 2011 outback premium w/ awp model. I was surprised that they even o smooth. Kevin contacted me by email first and agreed to offer me a good price for 2011 outback premium w/ awp model. I was surprised that they even offer free delivery, although my home is more than 50 miles away from Manchester, NH. Gary is a very nice and energetic guy to deal with. He is very knowledgeable and patient, answering my questions very well. Gary delivered the car by person and we finished all of the paper work in less than 30 minutes. I would like to recommend my friends to buy car from them too! Well done, Kevin and Gary! More
I'm just over 50 years old, and I must say that this was THE BEST car-buying experience that I've ever had in my life. It was also the first time that I've ever purchased a Subaru. Much of my positive exp THE BEST car-buying experience that I've ever had in my life. It was also the first time that I've ever purchased a Subaru. Much of my positive experience can be attributed to the fact that I was lucky enough to have Steve Appelbe "assigned" to me as my salesperson, based on my initial internet inquiry submitted to Manchester Subaru regarding Outback pricing. I later traveled 2.5 hours round trip from my home in Mass. to work with Steve on constructing a deal, and he made it well worth the time and gas money that I spent on the trip. Steve was an excellent listener, and was very forthright in answering any and all questions that I had before we arrived at an agreement for sale. He also made excellent recommendations regarding some little-known pros and cons of various options that I had been considering, which ultimately saved me several hundred dollars on the transaction. I finally figured out that Steve's primary focus in selling is to create a long-term satisfied customer, who will ultimately be more than willing to refer new customers to him in the future, which I will certainly be doing. Steve is an exemplary automotive salesperson, and Manchester Subaru is extremely lucky to have him on their team. THANK YOU, STEVE! More
This is almost an exact copy of an email I sent to Mr. Berkowitz, to which I have received no response. As I am still being ignored by Manchester Subaru, I have decided to take my complaint to a more pu Berkowitz, to which I have received no response. As I am still being ignored by Manchester Subaru, I have decided to take my complaint to a more public forum. I am writing in regards to my experience of Manchester Subaru on Sunday 7/24. My husband and I were in the market for a used Subaru. After doing some extensive research, I had settled on an older model Outback or Forester with less than 100k miles for less than 10k. I then set about locating such a vehicle and found one 2001 Subaru Forester at your dealership. On Sunday morning I called to inquire whether the vehicle was available. "Joe" took the call and was very friendly. He informed me that the car was still available. I informed him that I was leaving at that moment and would be there in 1 hour to test drive the vehicle (we live an hour away). "Great!" Joe said, "Just ask for me when you get in." This all sounded very official and promising. So I bundled my two children into the car (we run a farm here and my husband needed to run some heavy equipment so I could not leave the children with him). I travelled all the way to Manchester, spent a dollar at the toll and dodged tourist traffic to get to Manchester Subaru. When I got to the show room, there were three salesmen present. They were all occupied with other customers, which I understood, so I waited for one of them to acknowledge my presence. I was pretty obvious, because as I said, I had two children in tow. Yet, I waited for more than 15 minutes before one salesmen reluctantly asked me what I wanted. I informed him that I had called earlier about the 2001 Subaru Forester and was there to test drive the vehicle. He asked me, in a very perfunctory and unfriendly way, who I had spoken to. When I said that I had talked to Joe, he reluctantly told me he would "try to find him". At that point another salesman piped up and yelled: "Those folks over there are on that vehicle!" and pointed to another couple who, I gather, were in the process of actually purchasing the vehicle I had called to inquire about. This salesman never talked directly to me or attempted to apologize for the mix up. Now I understand that, even though I had called and specifically requested to test drive the car at a specific time, that used car buying is basically a first come first serve business. But as there were many other cars on your lot that I would have been happy to at least look at, I was still expecting that someone would take the time to speak to me. Instead, I was told to go "look at that car" while somebody tried to find Joe, and after another 20 minutes of being completely ignored, I finally took the hint and left. As I was leaving one of the salesmen breezily told me that he wasn't able to locate Joe, at which point I informed him that I was going to go somewhere where there were actual sales people working. I had just wasted over three hours in my day and two dollars at the toll. There were several other prospects at other dealerships that I would have looked into that day had I known that I would be completely disregarded as a serious customer at Manchester Subaru. None of your salespeople knew why I was there, and for all they knew I could have been in the market for a top-of-the-line new Subaru. I can only assume that what they thought they saw coming through the door-- a single mother with two kids-- was not worth their time. I also note from your website that your entire sales staff is male. For the record, I am an IT professional who works outside the home while my husband stays at home with our children, and I happen to be the more mechanically inclined one in the family and therefore am the one tasked to do such things as find us a reliable used car with the features that we need. Because I work full time I do not have time to sit around endlessly being ignored or for kicking tires. I was there to buy a car and for all intents and purposes was turned away. I have since found another 2001 Subaru Forester from a much more friendly dealer, and no longer need your services. I just wanted you to know that due to the apparently sexist assumptions and extremely poor customer service skills of your all-male sales staff on that Sunday, you have definitely and permanently lost mine and my husband's business, as well as that of my entire extended family (who all drive Subarus) and all of my friends, many of whom actually live in or around Manchester.
