Poor experience, completely unreliable This was a terrible experience all around. The salesperson was clueless, the manager was rude, and it's turning out that all around were simply lying. This was a terrible experience all around. The salesperson was clueless, the manager was rude, and it's turning out that all around were simply lying. I was told to come back for a free inspection sticker every year for as long as I own my car. On my very first trip back, I am now told that the dealership is no longer honoring that offer. Avoid if at all possible!!! More

The service department informed us that in fact they would NOT provide the oil change at no charge, and that furthermore they would charge us $74 for oil-change service. When pressed, they still declined to honor the arrangement they had agreed to. So we said no thank you, we will NOT reward you for not upholding your end of a deal that we made; we'll bring the car to our local mechanic, who charges $45 for oil-change service, and save ourselves $29 for every oil change in perpetuity. It so happens, by the way, that we are in the market for a new Subaru, which we likely would have bought at this dealer but now most certainly will not, as we're severing all ties with them permanently. So in the end, they cost themselves the sale of at least one new Subaru in pursuit of $74 which they didn't even get from us...how incredibly short-sighted and dumb. Meanwhile, we're perfectly happy to get any future Subarus at Milford Subaru. More

Quirk was outright deceptive from the first conversation. We called Jack Berkowitz and dealt with him over the phone. He was knowledgeable and gave us a fair price. The process was honest with no games. There was no "pushy" way about him and he was patient with all of our questions. Jack drove over 100 miles to deliver the car to us. Great transaction. More
Poor customer service, no follow-up. In October 2013 I picked up a new Outback Ltd. When I bought the car from Jack Berkowitz, he told me my maintenance would be free for the first year (or maybe it was two, I forget). Anyway, when I tried to make an appointment for an oil change, their service department wouldn’t do it unless I had some level of Subaru-suggested service first, which would cost me around $250.00. I told them I didn’t need the tires rotated, the cabin air filter changed, and whatever else they wanted to do, as I did a lot of that myself. They still wouldn’t do it. I emailed Berkowitz about it, got a couple of “I’ll look into its” and never heard another thing back. Since then I’ve done most of my own service, and with over 80K, no major problems. A couple of years ago, my wife talked me into putting my feelings aside and to go down and try to find a used Subaru for my son who was moving to Maine. When we got there, Jack Berkowitz was with another client but knew we were there. We found a couple of cars we wanted more information on but it was later in the day. We spoke with Jack when he was leaving in his car. He said he would get back to us the next day and he took my phone number – never heard a word. We ended up buying a Toyota from a dealer in Bangor instead. When it came time to retire my 2007 Imprezza, I knew where I was not going to go. I got a good deal at Prime up in Norwich, VT and I’ll stay with them. Just think, because of one oil change and lack of any follow-up, the Berkowitz Brothers lost two sales and my future business. Poor Service, Poor Follow-up I recently brought my Impreza into the service department due to "intermittent vibration during high speed (highway) breaking". I gave a very detailed I recently brought my Impreza into the service department due to "intermittent vibration during high speed (highway) breaking". I gave a very detailed description to the advisor. After several hours, I was told that I had warped rotors in the front, causing the vibration, and needed new pads and rotors on the rear. I agreed to all of the service recommended...Total cost over $1000. I continued to experience the exact same "intermittent vibration during high speed (highway) breaking" so I brought it back in. This time, they diagnosed that I needed new front calipers because they were binding...over $500! Why didn't anyone realize this the first time? Why didn't anyone question why the rotors were warped? Now the new rotors, just installed need to be resurfaced and brake pads chamfered... guess who had to pay for all this... ME! After picking it up, I realize that the brakes are really spongy. I return to the service department for my third trip so they can properly bleed and fill the system... Service Advisor has the Shop Foreman do a road test... the diagnosis is "functioning properly". He literally said to me "if you stomp on the brakes it will put you through the windshield"... WHAT? More
Easy Car Buying Experience From the moment I walked in the door, to the moment I left I felt comfortable. Charlie was awesome! He is a Customer advocate and makes any car buyer From the moment I walked in the door, to the moment I left I felt comfortable. Charlie was awesome! He is a Customer advocate and makes any car buyer feel at ease. This experience was a breathe of fresh air after a terrible experience with my last car purchase at another dealer, even when I arrived so close to closing time. There was no rush and although the service department was closed, I was able to take my car that night, which was not the case with my last car purchase from a dealer in Nashua, NH. My prior buying experience at Peter's Honda required me to return to the dealership three days in a row, which was 1.5 hours drive from my home, after being told each time that my NEW car would be ready the next day because service had closed and could not perform a state inspection, which was COMPLETELY opposite with Manchester Subaru. I would highly recommend Manchester Subaru for your next new car purchase! More
Ridiculous scammy experience; salespeople are bullies STAY FAR AWAY. Horrendous experience trying to lease a WRX back in January. I've been putting off writing this just because I don't even know where t STAY FAR AWAY. Horrendous experience trying to lease a WRX back in January. I've been putting off writing this just because I don't even know where to begin. I feel bad for the owner, Todd, because he seemed like a nice guy once this escalated to his office. He's just surrounded by idiots who are either incompetent, malicious, or both. They royally screwed up my sales taxes in Virginia AND scammed me on my trade-in until I got the owner involved. I was 99% confident that Virginia requires all sales taxes to be paid up front before they will register the car, and the finance manager, Jose, assured me "leasing is different. Virginia collects the sales tax from Subaru each month." He also told me it only needed to be on the leased portion because once the car is resold, the new owner would pay sales tax on the remaining value. I'm pretty sure VA also likes to get their taxes at every turn and wants it on the full value. But, since he's a finance manager and this should be his specialty, I believed him. We signed a binding contract that confirmed my payment would be $354/mo on the road. I go up and pick up the car and drive it back, only for Jose to call a week later to say that Subaru rejected the deal because, lo and behold, he screwed up the sales taxes. VA does want it all up front, and on the entire sales price of the car. He said he was sending me a new contract to sign that would change my payment to $375/mo. I stopped him and said, hang on, I have a legally binding contract with your signature and mine that says I pay $354/mo. I'm not paying a penny more. He said "I can't argue that with you, you'll have to talk to Bob, the GM, I'll ask him to call you." Bob never called. Instead, just some regular sales manager, Darren, called me: and boy was he a bully. He launched right into "you're responsible for the taxes, not us, so the screw up is not on us, it's on you." Um, I told your idiot finance manager what the rules were down here and he refuted me and chose to do it his way - the wrong way. Not my fault. I accused him of a "bait and switch" and he retorted "You know I love when morons like you use that term--" I hung up. I wasn't about to be insulted by lower management at the dealership that was actively screwing me. He called back 10 minutes later and asked "Can we try again?" I said sure, thinking he was going to cool down. Nope. Launched into a new idiotic tirade about "if you don't sign the new contract, you don't get the car registered, which means it's still registered to us, so it's a matter of theft." Frustrated with this jerk, I said, "OK, hire a tow service, bring my trade in back down, and you can scoop up the WRX and take it back. See you in 10 hours." He said "no, we're not going to do that. I'm going to call your local police and report it stolen." Really? You're going to try and have me arrested based on your financial screw up? I called my local PD and headed them off, and told them I had a signed contract with both of us and they were trying to bully me into paying more because they didn't know VA's simple laws. The police basically laughed at Manchester's pathetic attempt and said "this is a civil matter, if we get a call from them and you show us a signed contract, we're gonna turn around and leave." I called Todd, the owner, thinking maybe he could talk some sense into Darren before I had to hire a lawyer. I left him a voicemail. Darren called again, 10 minutes later, saying he got the voicemail - I'm sorry, are you rooting through your boss's boss's private messages? - and that Todd was "out of the country in Hawaii." (Hawaii is in the US, so that tells you the amount of brain power we're dealing with.) Ultimately, I think he realized he wasn't pulling the wool over me too hard, so he boosted my trade allowance to basically break the difference with me, raising my lease to $363/mo. I didn't feel like flying back to Manchester 3 times to sue them, so I decided to take the $9/mo hit and just try to discourage all of you reading this to STAY AWAY. It gets worse: I had traded in my previous lease Subaru Legacy as part of the deal, of which the buyout was $14,300 because of $800 in incorrect property taxes that were still on the account. Manchester Subaru and I agreed that they would buy the car for $13,500, and I would roll the remaining $800 into my lease payments, and later, Subaru Finance would refund it to me once the incorrect taxes were refunded to them. That was also on the signed contract they apparently like to ignore. After the property taxes were refunded to Subaru Finance, I called down to ask when to expect my refund check. They said no refund was due because Manchester Subaru quietly called back after the taxes were refunded - WEEKS after I traded in the car - to get a new payoff of $13,500. Repeated calls to Darren/Bob went unanswered. Finally when I backed Todd, the owner, into a corner, he paid up. But such a ridiculous scammy experience here. STAY AWAY. More

Very disappointed I went to Manchester Subaru to buy my second car from them (my 5th Subaru overall) and had a very disillusioning experience. I went to Matt Knezevic b I went to Manchester Subaru to buy my second car from them (my 5th Subaru overall) and had a very disillusioning experience. I went to Matt Knezevic because he is the Sales Manager. Matt Knezevic offered me $4,000 less than book value for my 2013 WRX, for a trade in towards the purchase of a brand new Impreza in cash, even though I had bought the WRX from him, and had all the services done at Manchester Subaru, and had taken great care of my car. He offered me $13,000. He told me if it needed new tires, the dealership would have to pay $800 to replace the tires. This was so untrue. I went to Town Fair Tire, and they quoted me $323 to replace all four tires. And the dealership pays less than that. I decided to sell my WRX privately. I sold it for $17,000. So he was offering me $4,000 less than what it was worth, even though I was coming to him to buy a brand new car. I bought a 2017 Impreza through Manchester Subaru, despite my misgivings. The car had a gouge in the center console which had to be replaced. The fog light switch did not work. There are still switches that do not work in the car and I have to bring it back in. But I will not go back to that dealership. I feel they do not value repeat customers, and care only about the bottom line. Mr. Knezevic was very misleading and dishonest. More
