AUTO DEALERSHIP POTENTIAL FRAUD ALERT! I recently moved to Valencia, CA and had to switch car dealerships for service. With the Infiniti of Valencia shop being less than 10 minutes from my house, it seemed like a no brainer to take my G37x there. After the first visit for a simple oil change, I was hit with a $4k plus repair proposal. To be honest this is typical of most dealerships in LA but I guess I thought it would be different now that I’m in the suburbs. They WILL find stuff to sell you regardless of whether you actually need it or not. Questionably I think some mechanics actually create their own work…that’s how they stay working and make their money by the way. This is exactly why I have struggled finding a service department I can trust in LA. Anyway, I stated I would schedule to do the repairs at a later date when I could budget for them. Low and behold, (like clockwork) 2 weeks after I left the dealership, one of the connectors to the hoses they had proposed to replace, broke while my car was idling. Coincidence?!?! I think not. I truly believe that they either A. Manipulated the part so that it would fail. B. Touched the part during inspection which caused the failure. That being said, I had the vehicle towed back to the dealership and asked for a quote to repair the car. After some quick research online, I expected a maximum price of $300-$400. $30 in parts and less than 2 hours for labor at $100/hour. WELL I WAS MISERABLY WRONG!! I was quoted just OVER $1,000. After I picked my jaw up off the floor, I went to autozone and purchased the connector that “failed” for $4.99. To give the dealership a second chance and avoid another tow, I pleaded with the service department to only repair the $5 connector and provide a more realistic price. Again, I was quoted “a reduced price” of $800 which included “required” new hoses. I made a final plea to have them only repair the car not change all hoses and was finally given a price of aprox $515. I think they just wanted me out of there. I felt trapped. My car was broken down and I wouldve had to pay for another tow so I caved. After this terrible but typical LA Infiniti experience, not only will I never go back to Infiniti of Valencia for service, the new vehicle that I was preparing to buy…nah, I’ll go elsewhere too. Note to all potential service customers…you’re going to get ripped off here. Your oil change will turn into a massive repair if not now…sooner or later. Find a dealership you can trust. This isn’t one of them!!! More
