Purchased a car and spent hours there. Was told to come by to do PDI on the vehicle. Quoted 30 mins and left almost 3 hours later. Purchased an EV and when I got my car back it smelled of gas. Staff agreed and their first solution was to put my windows down for 10 mins. Offered me a rental, non ev, but had to put a card down for deposit. They " detailed" my car instead except all they did was put marks on my seats and doors and sprayed ozone. So disappointed amd would 100% go to a different dealership More
This was the worst dealership experience ever. For the first time in my life I have to agree with people who portray car dealers as sleazy, pushy and dishonest. My wife and I were traveling to Tam For the first time in my life I have to agree with people who portray car dealers as sleazy, pushy and dishonest. My wife and I were traveling to Tampa when our 2016 Hyundai Tucson started behaving strangely. We were happy to find a Hyundai dealership in Wesley Chapel and left it there, thinking that it was a matter of spark plugs misfiring. Later we were told that there was a "sludge" in our engine and that must have been due to our neglect, therefore Hyundai would not honor its 100k miles, 10 years powertrain warranty, "the best in the business". We submitted our maintenance and they pointed to a period between 20k and 30k miles that showed no oil change. The car presently had 89k and was a year short of 10 years, so we were facing $5k - $20k bill (yes, this was the range given to us!) for engine repair and being stuck in Wesley Chapel for who knows how long. The dealership really wanted to sell us a new car. Had it been our local dealership, we would have insisted on the repair, warranty or not. We decided rent a car and back home (300 miles) We had been waiting in the lobby, waiting for Lyft, when Mr. Prieto approached us and asked how much money would we be willing to pay for the Hyundai Kona 2025 we had been considering. We told him 20-22k. A few minutes later he came back with $22,650 written on a piece of paper and a question, "Would you accept that price?", and we said yes. After all, this was only 2650 above the most scary estimate of engine repair. We were then led to the Finance Manager, Mr. Layton, who proceeded with our contract. All pages of this contract were presented to us on a small tablet on which we were shown the places to click to "sign". That was a big mistake on our part. We should have insisted on getting this on paper, so that we could read the disaster we were signing. Mr. Layton explained to us the benefits of the different "extended warranties", which we politely declined. After a short bathroom break, my wife alerted me to the fact that the price of the car went from $22,650 to $37,000 total. When I asked about it, it was explained to me that the low price didn't include the $7,000 of the down payment collected from us, the $6k in extended warranties or the various fees slapped on top of all this. When asked to remove the warranties, Mr Layton began huffing and puffing, but eventually proceeded to do just that. Another bout of "signing" on the in tablet followed, after which we were presented with a key to our new car, perfunctory instructions and a tiny flash drive, where all the documents we just signe were to be found. We could do it only after driving home for 7 hours and then we discovered, to our horror, that the warranties were still there and we were on the hook for $36k. We made many phone calls to the dealership and other places, trying to remove the warranties. This was an exercise in futility, lies, and rudeness. Eventually, after almost 3 months of fighting, we got a confirmation that one of those warranties had been removed. We have yet to check. The documents on the flash drive would be a useful exhibit in court. We have two bills of sale. One is listing oil changes for $1000 twice, and something called Permplast Protection - apparently a special coating on the paint and windshield. When I called the company listed on this warranty, they told me it cannot be removed, as it must have been applied by the dealer before we drove off. Yet there is no evidence that this was applied, so I am afraid this is just "vaporware". Besides, if that HAD been applied without our consent, shouldn't it be included in the price of the car and not as an add on? A few pieces of advice for potential customers of this dealership: 1. Go elsewhere 2. Do not buy a car far away from home 3. Demand that all the documents you sign are in paper form and check them carefully We were being fools - I admit - two elderly people far from familiar grounds. More
