Although the service took far longer than expected, the manager was apologetic and arranged for my next oil change for free. I have never had any other problems at this location and have had all my car servicing done there for the last 5 years. The people are kind. I wish this location offered courtesy washes with vehicle service as some other locations do, however, other than that no complaints. More
By far the best experience I have ever had at a dealership It all started with the helpful recommendation from Shawn Cunningham about coming to the dealership to check out the selection. From there, Thely and James greeted me and took over the negotiation process.. They were tremendously helpful and knowledgeable about the product. They were very warm and friendly and didn't put too much pressure on me which made me comfortable. After that, I went into Mike's office in finance who thoroughly explained the terms and conditions of the vehicle I received. This was the best experience of any dealership I have ever been to and I left the lot feeling comfortable about my purchase. They are truly a great team of people in the office. More

We bought a new car for my mom and she wasn't present when we purchased it. She brought the car by a week later and Mac and Joel spent a lot of time explaining all the options to her and helped set up her Bluetooth and Bluelink. She is 72 ....and now feels confident to use all the new technology....she's very happy with her new car and feels safe. This gives my husband and I piece of mind. If you want a good buying experience, this is the dealership to go to. Thanks Hyundai ........and to Mac and Joel - You both are awesome! More

Screwed over at Hendrick Last July I bought a used car from Rick Hendrick Hyundai in North Charleston. At the time, the vehicle, a 2009 Hyundai Elantra, had 87,345 miles. Last July I bought a used car from Rick Hendrick Hyundai in North Charleston. At the time, the vehicle, a 2009 Hyundai Elantra, had 87,345 miles. Before I bought the car, knowing a timing belt change would be due soon (if equipped with a belt) I asked, specifically, if the car was equip with a timing belt or chain. I explained I had just spent a lot of money having the timing belt changed on my other vehicle and preferred a vehicle with a timing chain to avoid the costly maintenance. The guy who sold me the car went to ask a mechanic and came back with and answer of "timing chain". Great! The salesman went over the 34 point inspection (see attached) with me, and after a test drive I purchased the vehicle. Fast forward 5500 miles, which is a blink of an eye in the life of a vehicle. We received a mandatory recall from the factory on the make and model we bought. I made an appointment at the Rick Hendrick service shop to have the recall correction executed. It was about an hour later when the service manager showed me their "Action Plan" for my car. It listed observations made by the mechanic and recommended corrective actions as appropriate. The list under the "Failed Task" column was disturbing. All these items were checked off on the 34 point inspection sheet 5500 miles previous as having been checked. Nothing was brought up at the time of purchase as an item that needed to be corrected, or would need to be corrected in the then near future. Looking further in the report, "Timing Belt Replacement" was listed as "Fail" under the "Status" category. I addressed the issues with Jerry, a manager there at Rick Hendrick Hyundai (used car division). I explained that I felt duped, and people at the dealership were being dishonest. He listened, took my number and told me it might be the next Tuesday or Wednesday before he got back to me. This conversation took place just before the Memorial Day weekend. The following Thursday rolls around, and still no call from Jerry. I stopped by the dealership to discuss the matter with him, again. He apologized for me not receiving a call and said someone was supposed to get back to me. I really didn't believe that. He walked over to the service shop and had a discussion with the service manager while I waited at the dealership. When he came back he told me he was going to speak with the person who performed the pre-purchase check to discuss what was done. This struck me as odd since the car was bought the previous July and seemed unrealistic that anyone would be able to recall something that happened that long ago. After all, how many cars must this guy look at? I did tell Jerry my expectation was for the dealership to correct all the maintenance deficiencies. If everything was in good working order, as the 34 point inspection suggests, not one of these issues could have happened in the last 5500 miles, there's just no way. The only maintenance that should have been done in those 5500 miles is an oil change, and we did that. Anyway, Jerry never called back. I believe he was hoping this would all just go away. I believe there should be a reasonable expectation of honesty that consumers experience that exceed what was provided at this dealership. When the inspection sheet states "it", you fill in the blank, was checked, it should be in good working condition. The ironic thing is we had our mechanic look at a few used cars for mechanical soundness when he finally told us to just go to a reputable dealer, like Hendrick. I know, it kills me too. I fought in Iraq and was awarded the Bronze Star for meritorious service in a combat zone. I don't deserve special treatment. I don't want special treatment. I was happy to serve. My point to bringing this up is if they'll take advantage of our service members, they'll take advantage of anyone. I wonder if Rick Hendrick stands behind his name, or just uses it to make a buck.
