A honest review and a Terrible Experience My wife and I went to look at Hyundai Sonatas (New). We were met by a salesman who told us he had just started working there a month before. We de My wife and I went to look at Hyundai Sonatas (New). We were met by a salesman who told us he had just started working there a month before. We decided we wanted the Sonata Sport in Grey. The saleman said they would have to order but then decided to try to upsell us to the Limited in Grey with the top package. We decided to go inside and look at the numbers. We went into the business to talk numbers. The finance manger / sales manager (a former football player from Southern Miss), comes in and talked numbers. He was nice to start with but played the tired "four square" game of negotiating. It is so sad, when they start that game of "how much do you want your monthly to be?" I felt like I was stuck in the 80's. We left and every day for two weeks (except on Sundays) the salesman would call me. He would say the same thing over and over again... "If you will just come back we can talk numbers". I finally decided to come back on my lunch break and the manager talked to me about numbers. But his numbers weren't good. Finally after two weeks, we were ready to buy. We had found two dealerships (Jackson and Tupelo) that had the car and color we wanted. The Meridian salesman wouldn't stop. He called everyday. Finally I told him I would entertain numbers on their limited (even though we wanted the sport). He told me to come in and we would break them down. I drove for a third time and met the sales manager. He was a jerk this time. Just a complete jerk. Said he had made 30 deals that day and had no idea what I was talking about. Just a complete waste of my time. I left and the next day I started the final phase of getting the car from Tupelo or Jackson. The Meridian salesman kept texting me with the same BORING line.... "Just come in and we can get you a car". I ultimately got the car I wanted from Tupelo. Meridian is just not a big enough dealership to compete against Jackson or Tupelo. They have a sales manager who is young and clearly immature. When you have a young manager, you have someone who doesn't know how to treat people. On top of that he thinks it's all about the pressure and the 4 square system. The salesman was nice but clearly had no basic knowledge of the car we were looking at. The first thing he said was "You will notice we put nitrogen in our tires"..... I literally started laughing. The Nitrogen in the tires is the biggest joke in the tire industry. When it came to looking at the car he had no idea how to turn the blindside lane detection system. He kept telling us "Just merge into a car and the system will correct you." I told him I was not comfortable doing that. It turned out, the system had not been turned on and he had no idea how it was used. Even though the salesman was behind the learning curve and the manager was rude and immature, the inside of the business is the final straw. The chairs are extremely uncomfortable. I was never offered something to drink, coffee, or ANYTHING. When I asked to see a printout of finance and rebate information I was told "you may see it but you can't take it with you." That is word for word from the manager. On the opposite end, if you go to Tupelo, Mississippi the service waiting room and sales waiting room are all together. There are comfortable seats, TV's, and Free Food and Drinks! Meridian is way behind. What they need is to get a friendly manager, knowledgeable sales staff, and redesign the interior to make it where a customer wants to spend time inside. This review is 100% honest and I live in Meridian. The owner can call me anytime. I would be glad to tell him everything I just wrote. More
