The first I returned under the 5 day 300 mile guarantee (which as explained to me, allowed for the return of the vehicle no questions asked) It was returned because there were things on the carfax that Hyundai mechanics claimed to have performed that were either not done or done incorrectly and it left an 8 inch oil spot on my driveway overnight. The second car was a little more expensive, but their sales managers did something with the paperwork where they didn't have to cancel the original sale and I had to get my loan amount increased for the difference between the two. (They had prematurely cashed the check for 1st purchase.) I really like the car, it had all the bells and whistles I wanted and ran pretty solid. After filling out the paperwork and heading back home, right while I was turning onto the freeway, the check engine light came on. I returned to the dealership ready to opt out. Their mechanic and Andrew Harper wanted me to stay until they could run a scan and find out why the light had come on. I did and their mechanic explained to me, it was an active grill fault. I googled it, it was about a $600 dollar fix which would still make the purchase of the car a good deal for me. I asked Andrew Harper if the 5 day 300 mile guarantee was still good and starting from the minute I walked out of the door. He said "yes, we like to treat our people right." I drove the car home, but had already decided to have a scan run on the car and my mechanic check it out, because I did not do not have faith in their mechanics. First thing in the morning, I took the car to autozone and asked them to run a scan on the car. The scan came back with two codes. The code for the active grill error which Hyundai mechanic had explained to me the day before and another code for a cvt shudder. Once I saw the words cvt, I knew the car was going back, but I called my nissan mechanic to be certain. He explained to me that code was a death sentence for the transmission which is a $6500 repair. I headed straight back to Montgomery and Hyundai Montgomery. Andrew Harper handled the return. He gave me the check for the difference between the two loans (they hadn't cashed this one yet) and asked me to return it to my bank and bring him a letter with the amount of the 14 day payoff on the initial loan. I did as requested. Andrew Harper assured me that he would mail a check to me and have the initial loan payed off by 15 March 2025. This did not happen. I have attempted to contact Mr. Harper on several occasions but he has not returned my calls or responded to emails. I cannot think of one reason why this company is behaving like this. I think we're heading to arbitration. The worst thing of all though is that Andrew brought one of their managers, I think he was a service manager who had Nissan experience to explain the codes on the scan sheet I brought them from autozone. He started explaining about the active grill codes. I stopped him and told him I wasn't worried about that, it is a $160 part and a couple of hours of labor. I said the last line on the page, the cvt shudder. I told him no mechanic in Selma would touch it, it would have to go to the dealer for repair. He named a couple of other places in Montgomery that did the repair. Andrew asked him if he could clear the code but the gentlemen told him that only Nissan could clear the code and they would only clear the code when a nissan certified transmission has been installed. You know that car was back on the lot a couple of days later. They had lowered the price $500 bucks but still were going to sell that car knowing it had a $6500 transmission repair in the wings. Now if they lowered the price to $2000 or so, it would be worth it, but it looks like somebody is going to get stuck with an expensive transmission job. More
