Wanted to purchase a new 2007 Honda Civic EX. Live near by so thought we would use a local dealership. Salesman was not responsive to our needs. Did not try to locate a car that had the options desired. by so thought we would use a local dealership. Salesman was not responsive to our needs. Did not try to locate a car that had the options desired. Said what he had on the lot was it. When we said we could be enticed to purchase a car on his lot right away and could he do a little better on the price he said "You must be kidding, these cars fly off the lot every day at msrp so I can't do any better on the price." He was very negative and unhelpful. Called my buddy off Cape for a reference and found the right car at a discounted price. Did all the dealing over the telephone and picked up the car w/in 24 hours. Treated to hot cookies and coffee while we waited for the car and entertained by the witty, pleasant sales staff at Clair Honda. Swung by Hyannis Honda out of curiosity a week later and the car we asked to purchase at a reasonable price was still for sale despite the claim that "these cars fly off the lot every day at msrp". Bottom line is save alot of money and be treated like a human being by going off-Cape to the real auto dealers. More
My only experience with this dealer was six years ago when I was shopping for my Accord. Because of their idiotic treatment, I never had cause to return. I had been carefully pricing Accords, reading t when I was shopping for my Accord. Because of their idiotic treatment, I never had cause to return. I had been carefully pricing Accords, reading the sites like Edmunds and getting some serious help with invoice numbers, dealer incentives, etc. and what to expect for a fair price. After getting all the dealership information on which ones were in a reasonable distance from the cape (lived there at the time), it was time to start visiting and test driving. My husband and I met with a salesguy who quickly passed us along to a sales manager (whether or not that was an actual title, I don't know). We briefly talked numbers and we questioned why his were so much higher than other dealers. He gave us the advertising fee talk and a bunch of other bogus reasons, but the finishing touch was when he whipped out this little binder and showed us his invoice price. It was clearly something he had typed up himself on Word, and tried to make it look official by using the binder. I pointed out to him that his invoice price was $600.00 more than what everyone else's was, including the Edmunds site. (Now how could that be???) He had no explanation and kept repeating that it was definately right. OK, then. I went later in the week to Barry's Honda in Dartmouth and got everthing I wanted in the Accord, including a better price. And (shocker) their invoice did not include the extra 600 bucks. More
