On June 2, 2020 My father and I bought a 2010 Subaru Forrester from saleswoman Kristy Caldwell. It had and R title for minor hail damage to the body.. Prior to buying it, on May 28th, I had emailed Kri Forrester from saleswoman Kristy Caldwell. It had and R title for minor hail damage to the body.. Prior to buying it, on May 28th, I had emailed Kristy and specifically asked that Huffmans mechanics look over it, inspect it and make sure that it was mechanically sound and safe and good to drive. I got an email back from Kristy stating " I had the mechanic drive it and check over everything for me." "It will be ready to go". So we bought the car.. It had no warranty, as many of their cars dont. I drove it home from Mt. Pleasant on June 2 after paying $11,224.00 up front. By 5pm on June 3, 2020, after driving it only 44 miles (test drive, 33 miles from Mt pleasant to pleasant hills, and 2 trips to a local gas station) my check engine and anti-slip lights came on on the dashboard, and the cruise control light started blinking.. Since Huffmans was already closed, i called Kristy at 9 am June 4, 2020 to tell her the problem. After telling her, i was hung up on twice. Finally, the third call I was transferred to Eddie, who rudely said, I have a meeting to attend, so make this fast because I dont have time. I explained the situation, the fact that i had just bought the car 48 hours ago, that i had been told by Kristy that it was checked and mechanically sound. I stated that this was unacceptable, and he needed to make this right. He told me to get the car up there, and his Mechanics would check it out.. I said " I am not driving a car 33 miles with the check engine and anti-slip lights on. That is dangerous.. You need to come and get the car". He told me he would not come and get the car, that i needed to get it up there. Now a tow without membership to AAA was over $100 no matter who quoted me. Shouldnt have to pay after dropping $11,224.00 only 48 hours before. Eddie never once offered to have it towed back to the dealership to get fixed. So i finally said, ok, since you are going to act that way, and those were my only options, then i am going to take it to the Bowser Subaru Mechanics 3 miles from my house.. Eddie told me if i took it there he wouldnt do anything to offset the cost of any damage they found.. I said that if he was going to be that way, court is an option. He said" I dont give a xxxx what you do." Then he hung up on me. Thats 3 hang ups in 1 day! Anyway, I took the car to Bowser Subaru, and within 45 minutes they called me back and told me that the Turbo engine had metal shards all through it, and the lines to the turbo engine were shredded. In essence. the turbo engine was fried, and the line to the freon in the air conditioner was leaking .. So much for Huffmans mechanics im glad i didnt trust them.. To fix it will cost me an upwards of $2600.00. I called Huffmans again, asked for the owner and they hung up on me again. I called back and said i would only speak to the owner. The girl at Huffmans said the owner would call me back as soon as he was finished with another call. 5 Minutes later, Eddie calls me back and proceeds to tell me that he told me to bring it back to Huffmans. I told him that he had refused to provide me with a safe option of bringing the car back, so i took it to the Subaru Dealer. I told him what they had found ( I have a box of all the bad parts as well as pictures of the damaged turbo engine, and lines before they touched it). Eddie proceeded to tell me that he had only wanted his mechanics to look at it, that he didnt trust Subaru dealers. Eddie said that these mechanics at Bowser, a very reputable authorized Subaru dealer, were lying and doing this themselves... He did not care one bit that he had just sold a dud, lied, and cheated a customer out of almost $15,000, including my repair cost.. Huffmans is the last place that you want to go to find a car. The salespeople are very rude, and the owner is a thief, who preyed on an 80 year old Vietnam veteran, and cheated him out of a lot of money.. My father has stopped the payment on his credit card, and we will be taking legal action immediately. Dont go through this pain. Stay away from Huffmans Auto Group in Mt. Pleasant, Pa. More
