She talked to one salesman and got all of the details and said we would be up the next day to look at it and test drive. She also called the next morning to make sure it was still available and that we would be there an hour before they close; we live 2 hours from the dealership so we had to leave work early that day to get there in time. When we got to the dealership they had already sold it between when my wife called and when we got there and never told my wife, even though she had just called that morning and two salesman had both her phone number and email address. I don't care that they sold the vehicle but they could at least have the common courtesy to call any other interested customers and tell them it's no longer available. We were both very unhappy that we left work early and drove four hours round trip only to find out after we got to the dealership that the vehicle was sold. On top of all of this, the next day, after driving up there, the first salesman my wife talked to called to tell her the vehicle was sold and he was wondering if it was us that bought it! The communication at Red Wing Ford Chrysler Dodge Jeep seems to be poor all around; the salesman don't appear to convey information to each other and they don't have much regard for their customers. Looking to lease a car was given a quote and ready to sign then all of a sudden the deal changed. I was told that Jeep changed their offers on the 4th of the month, the quote was given to me after that d sign then all of a sudden the deal changed. I was told that Jeep changed their offers on the 4th of the month, the quote was given to me after that date so it should have been accurate! I tried again to negotiate a deal and was again ready to call and put down a deposit only to be told that the monthly payments we had been speaking to did not include tax. This is not an issue I have had with any other dealerships. Additionally it took forever to get information from this dealer. Not sure if they only have one finance manager but he/she is never around and nothing can proceed without them not sure what kind of ploy this is but it is VERY frustrating. Overall I am very disappointed with my experience. The sales guy seemed nice enough but I can't help but think I was being strung along the entire time. More
Bad experience turned to a Great Experience My initial review of Red Wing Ford was pretty negative. I bought a car that had a laundry list of issues from a salesman who I did not care for his actions or mannerisms. After my review, the General Manager reached out to me, and we had a dialogue about my experience, and what I had wrote. It didn’t change the facts, but he extended the olive branch to make things right (within reason of course), and I gave him the fair chance to do just that. The car required extensive work, and it wasn’t going to be cheap. They were willing to cover the majority however I was to cover $250 of it. While some I’ve shared that with expressed outrage, I found it to be a fair compromise. It’s a business, I get it. The lights aren’t on for free. I have a full work schedule at the office, however I took a satellite system down to Red Wing Ford so that I could work while they ran diagnostics on my car, to which they wrapped it up pretty darn quick. They knew what the issue was and hit me with the news. It was going to be much more expensive but my obligation would only go up $100. A fair compromise. They were eating around $1000 to my $350. I agreed, and they ordered the parts. What they did next was not expected, they took into consideration my work schedule, and drove a fully loaded Jeep Grand Cherokee with a full tank of gas over an hour away to my office, and took possession of my car from there. Tim, the General Manager kept in constant communication, I didn’t have to bug him. When he drove my car back to Eagan, it still wasn’t right. He asked to keep it another day. The next day when he came to the office, we took it for a spin and it still wasn’t right. He said he’d work with me on making it right, and we arranged a good day to work on that goal together. However when that day came, the car went further down the spiral, more issues cropped up and the cars degrading condition had the rear end come out from under me and went under a tanker truck (nearly hitting it). Enough was enough. Oddly enough, Tim agreed who heartedly. No pushback whatsoever. I wanted another car, at this point I wasn’t even picky about specs. I mentioned buying the loner car. Tim said he would see what he could do and then call me back. He didn’t have a vehicle with my wants, too specific. So what he did was work out a trade with another car dealership to get me a car with the specs that I had wanted. Next he took back the car I bought at 100% reimbursement rate, then the brand new 2014 that he found me he gave me every dealer incentive and break he could, then took a loss to get it down to my payment range. At the end of the day, not only was the initial deal honored, but expectations were exceeded! You can’t control the condition of a used vehicle, but you can judge a company by the leadership that keeps it. I will be buying another car from this dealership. Thank you Tim for making things right by honorable deeds, not just words. ~Eric More
Everyone we dealt with at the dealership was great. Our sales person Mike, went above and beyond our expectations including staying almost 2 hours past close to help us get our vehicle situation sorted out sales person Mike, went above and beyond our expectations including staying almost 2 hours past close to help us get our vehicle situation sorted out. The finance person, I believe it was Alex was great to work with and was fun to chat with as well. We also worked with the GM Tim on the purchase of our vehicles and he was great as well. My wife and I can't say enough great things about how we were treated by the staff at Red Wing Ford. They sorted through our difficult situation, got us in two great vehicles and got us an awesome deal. We are glad that we made the trip from Rochester to check it out. Thanks to all the staff that helped us out! You guys were great!!! More
I put a deposit down a Dodge Durango; so it wouldn't be sold and by the time my pre-purchase inspector showed. By the time the he made it, they had already sold the vehicle to someone else. Very unpre sold and by the time my pre-purchase inspector showed. By the time the he made it, they had already sold the vehicle to someone else. Very unpressional! More
I recently visited this dealership to purchase a new vehicle. As I was talking with my sales person I overheard the manager in his office YELLING at an employee. The office was near all of the other d vehicle. As I was talking with my sales person I overheard the manager in his office YELLING at an employee. The office was near all of the other desks at the dealership. I believe this was very unprofessional. No employee deserves to be yelled at and talked to like this one was. There is also a time and a place for this kind of thing and it isn't around customers. As much as I wanted to buy local we couldn't reach an agreeable price that was competitive to what I had been quoted at other dealerships. As I was getting ready to leave the manager came over to talk to us. As I saw him walking toward us I was unsure what to think as I just saw him angry at the other employee. He came over and gave me his speech about being priced according to market and said that there is no way I could be getting a better deal on the same truck. I assured him that I was. He dismissed me as not being "informed" and had a bitter attitude with me. The truth was that they were considerably higher than a dealership I had visited just 30 miles away from them and it was on the same truck, same options, and same sticker price. My sales person was very nice and genuine but based on the treatment from the manager who is supposed to be a role model I regretfully say I will not buy from this dealership. More
