I called about a Bronco, they told me the price over the phone and even referenced the website. That was the price. After test driving it and seeing the features, we agreed to purchase. As we were filling out the Ford Credit application, they pull out THE REAL PRICE, which was 11k over the asking price. After arguing and being on site for 2 hours, we decided not to buy from them. As we felt we were being deceived. No sale unless you agreed to pay the extra mark up. It would be better if you told me the actual price before I wasted my time coming to your dealership. I would avoid doing business here. More

I would highly recommend any interested in looking at a vehicle purchase to see Bernie. Ryan - Service Manager Ryan was awesome about calling me and letting me know that status of my vehicle, answering any of my questions, and going over all technical specs of the work being completed. Ryder - Porter Ryder is the man! I live an hour away and he drove my truck back and forth several times while they were completing some upgrades. He would drop off a loaner and take my truck. No complaints. Professional and a great asset to the team! These GUYS ROCK! They don't get enough credit for the hard work and effort put in on a daily basis dealing with the public. I own my own business, and value hard working individuals. I would definitely y recommend them and Hopkins Ford. THANK YOU GENTLEMAN! More
I worked with Chris Popa on purchasing a used f150 they had posted. We had trade value, financing, insurance, everything lined up and ready to go. He told me he would hold it until the weekend. I offered 3 had posted. We had trade value, financing, insurance, everything lined up and ready to go. He told me he would hold it until the weekend. I offered 3+ times to make a non refundable deposit to hold the vehicle but he never took me up on it. I took my trade in for a tune up, booked vacation time with work, and rearranged family plans to get out there that weekend only to have it sold out from under me the following morning. Then he tried to flip me into a different vehicle while insisting theybhave standards for how they do business. Don't waste your time. More
To be honest, this was one of the worst experiences I've ever had at a dealership. I met with Austin to go over a Mercedes E class that they had for sale, drove it no problem. I had already received a pre-a ever had at a dealership. I met with Austin to go over a Mercedes E class that they had for sale, drove it no problem. I had already received a pre-approval from my credit union so I had no reason to not haggle anything, they had the car listed at 14k, which was slightly higher than what it was worth given the mileage count amongst other factors. We sit down and asks to see the check, he made my father sign a piece of paper stating he would drop the price to 13k which is what we were looking at paying and he said wait a moment he went away and spoke with someone at the desk for approval who I believed to be Jeff Hopkins himself, he came back and said that we would do 13 contingent on us financing with the dealer, that was no problem. They ran our credit against 4 loaners after that it was too many inquires for our liking, he now came back with the sales manager Chris, who frankly was extremely rude and ruined the entire experience. His approach to us was as follows, Hi how are you, what can you do to your price? Me and my father looked dumbfounded because we just agreed and filled out all of the credit apps under the premise we were doing it for 13. He said no that's not what we said and tried to backtrack, asked Austin did you say you would do 13? and he shook his head no, which honestly was almost just as disrespectful as Chris coming in here and basically saying we were lying. We were I would say 10 seconds away from buying the car but frankly Christopher ruined our experience and the sale and lost us as customers. We had left multiple voicemails stating for them to call us back this week to no avail. I personally would not recommend anyone doing business here as their practices are far from clean and kosher. One of the most shadiest dealerships in Illinois they will swindle you. I was interested in purchasing a pre-owned vehicle from Hopkins Ford. But I kept receiving emails from salesman Jack Ferronasking will swindle you. I was interested in purchasing a pre-owned vehicle from Hopkins Ford. But I kept receiving emails from salesman Jack Ferronasking when do I want to take delivery of the vehicle. It has been clean and inspected. Two weeks later I started receiving more emails from salesman Jack Ferron, advertising new vehicles I told Jack I wasn't interested in a new vehicle. Jack Ferron exact words were: (The Mazda you're interested in is going to auction. The vehicle requires a significant amount of mechanical work and is not safe to be sold). so what you saying if I would have purchased the vehicle 2 weeks ago, I would have been stuck with an unsafe vehicle with mechanical issues. He was very rude and arrogant. My question is why are they advertising vehicles that have not been inspected properly. I even received a message from the owner of the dealership and he stand by his rude employee. If you decide to purchase a vehicle from this Shady dealership make sure you get a written 14-day warranty. cuz I can guarantee the only thing they do with their pre-owned trade-in vehicles is wash and vacuuming them. Not even a basic oil change BEWARE: if you want to be talked and treated like your nothing then salesmen Jack Ferron is the right salesman. Just read the Yelp reviews. More
Be warned!! I bought a 2018 F 150 from these guys with 36 k miles on it and had it shipped to me out of state. It has been a far from pleasant experience! Probably closer to a nightmare if I’m being honest. k miles on it and had it shipped to me out of state. It has been a far from pleasant experience! Probably closer to a nightmare if I’m being honest. When closing the deal they made it known they wanted the truck gone off their lot that week. I said that’s fine everything is in order on my part. They took 2 weeks to get paperwork finalized!!! They had to send paper work 2 different times due to mistakes made by their finance department. In the negotiations I was promised that a major scratch that stuck out would be repaired before shipping the vehicle. I asked beforehand if it was fixed and I was told yes. When the truck makes it to my house I find out all they did was use some touch up paint to “repair” it. You can still see it and it looks like garbage. Here is where the real issue starts! The very first night I had the truck. Might I add the driver delivering it did so at 8:30 at night. I had noticed it seemed to be idling rough. And my family who was over that night also noticed the same thing. I didn’t think much of it because their weren’t any warning lights on and I hadn’t owned a Ford before. I am thinking that must just be how it runs. 2 weeks later to the day. My check engine lights come on! So I take it into the local Ford dealership and they diagnose $1600 worth of repairs. Engine/emission related repairs that apparently the power train won’t cover! And those repairs all effected how the truck idles. So what I heard night one is in fact due to something being wrong. Which means it left their dealership in the same condition! The locals Ford mechanics could tell something wasn’t right as soon as they listened. So I reach out to Hopkins Ford to be told, well we can sell you an extended warranty. Which wouldn’t help me with the current repair. That’s a convenient response! Let me take more of your money after selling you a broken truck! And I did express interest in an extended warranty during the purchasing process to be told they would send info over and then never followed through. Might I remind you most of the mistakes made in the buying process were from the finance department so that’s no surprise. I then ask for the GM. And instead I’m transferred to Israel. Who clearly isn’t the GM and doesn’t have the authority to make a decision like this. It’s Thursday at this point and he says I’ll have to wait until Monday or Tuesday because the GM is on vacation. So here I am expected to be without a vehicle for another 4 days because the GM is apparently the only one that can make a decision. I’m told this truck went through a 172 point inspection before leaving their lot. And I’m supposed to believe they did a thorough job and thought all was well?? And yet I’m far from a mechanic and could tell the first 5 minutes something seemed off. This must have been a solid inspection they did! I believe Hopkins Ford knew something was wrong with this truck and sold and shipped it anyways after clearing the check engine light. Their other 1 star reviews say this is a common theme here. It is ridiculous that they have no urgency to help or understand the customers situation. I will now be without a vehicle for a week, and we have a huge ice storm coming and the GM is on a sunny beach somewhere without a worry in the world. If I could do it over I wouldn’t buy consider buying from these guys and if you’re readinf this I encourage you to find someone else to purchase your vehicle from!! They just want to sell and not serve. It’s not worth the headache you’ll get from dealing with these unprofessionals!!! More

Overall, if you take nothing else from this review, look elsewhere. My husband and I bought a used 2017 Lincoln MCK a few months ago. We have been waiting for the dealership to redeem themselves, but no elsewhere. My husband and I bought a used 2017 Lincoln MCK a few months ago. We have been waiting for the dealership to redeem themselves, but no such luck. High level: we were at the dealership a total of 6 LONG EXHAUSTING hours trying to get a fair deal. The one redeeming factor was our sales person (Mike Bedford) was very nice. Everything else about the experience makes us never want to buy from a dealership again. First, after agreeing on a cost of the car with our sales person (challenging but not horrible) we were asked to wait and finalize the purchase with the finance department. We assumed the dealership was checking our credit and getting final paperwork ready. After waiting over 2 hours to speak to the finance department, we were put through a GRUELING battle. They tried to add thousands of dollars onto our ALREADY agreed on purchase price of the car. Honestly, it felt like they saw 2 young millennials and tried to take advantage of us. READ EVERYTHING YOU ARE PAYING FOR. They will try to pad your loan. We came close to signing the paperwork with an additional $5,000 added onto our loan we didn't agree on. Absolutely ridiculous process they are putting car buyers through. Second, during negotiations, the dealership agreed to cover the cost of new brakes because the car would shake when slowing down during our test drive. The dealer insisted that the problem would fix itself, but agreed to resolve the issue if it did not. After a few days of driving and the problem remaining, we took it to a trusted local mechanic to look at the brakes. He informed us that to get rid of the shaking we would need a complete brake job (including rotors and pads). Additionally, he found a CUT in one of the tires. We live over an hour from this dealership and our mechanic strongly advised it would be unsafe to drive it back out there. He told us there was no way the car should have left the lot in this condition and that if we would have bought through CarMax or Carvana this would be taken care of before the car left their hands. We had the work done locally with him and tried to work with the dealership to come to an agreement to cover at least part of the work that needed to be done on a car we had only owned a few days. We called our salesperson who said he would get back to us, left multiple messages at Hopkins Ford for the owner to call us back, and even got Lincoln corporate involved who called the dealership on our behalf. NO ONE FROM THE DEALERSHIP RETURNED OUR CALLS TO EVEN TALK ABOUT WORKING THIS OUT. It has been two months of radio silence. We are very very disappointed with the experience of purchasing our car. We will never ever go back to Hopkins Ford of Elgin. Not even for the *free* oil changes they offered us, because quite honestly we don't trust them. And we will think twice before ever going to another dealership in general. More
