I took my car in for service here because the dealership I bought it from does not sell Toyota and due to the type of work said it was best to take it to Hoover Toyota for service. When I arrived at this dealership, with my dealer's driver waiting for me with my loaner out front, the check in process took forever and service advisor, Seth, did not know how to answer my questions or how to listen to the information I provided to him about my extended warranty plan for my car. So after 30 minutes of him being on the phone and asking other people questions, I got my car checked into their process that is harder than going through TSA. That afternoon I called to check the status of my car so I could plan for picking it up and find out how much I would need to pay, because the warranty does not cover the full cost, I was told by the service manager that it was not covered by warranty. She was unaware of the situation because Seth had not provided notes about the warranty on my paperwork, in fact, she didn't even know that I had not bought the car from their dealership (talk about making yourself sound stupid to a customer). When she finally called Seth he cleared up the situation with her and she apologized for the confusion. As if that had not been enough to convince me this dealership is a mess what happened the next day was when things got very bad, I got a call from Seth at 10:30 the next morning that my car was ready and that he would have the guy that is over the shuttle service call me to set up getting me from my dealer to their service center to pick up my car. They called to set up the pick up for one time and then called see if they could push it back, and I said I would do 4:15 - to which, Bob told me they would be at my dealer at 4:15 to get me. Well 4:15 came and went and I called Bob who said they were running behind and someone would get me soon, well they finally showed up at 4:55 to get me, only 40 minutes late. So I spend almost an hour in the dealership waiting for Hoover Toyota to show up, but my dealer was working to find someone to give me ride the whole time I was waiting. So I finally got my car and the repair was done, but I learned a big lesson that I will never do business with this place again and that their service promise is a total lie. For now on I am taking my car to my dealer and letting them deal with Hoover Toyota so I don't have to hear their lies. More

Engine Rebuild due to Oil Consumption Defect My engine threw a rod last year (June 2016) and Hoover Toyota was trying to get me to replace the engine. It was pretty dangerous when it happened too My engine threw a rod last year (June 2016) and Hoover Toyota was trying to get me to replace the engine. It was pretty dangerous when it happened too. I was on I-65 and the car started decelerating and it sounded like I threw a chain in a washing machine. Did some research and there was a class action lawsuit for a faulty part causing an oil consumption problem that lead to the busting of the motor. There was a warranty recall that i never received (research also showed a lot of others affected never got the recall). Toyota ended up letting Hoover Toyota rebuild my engine because i had proof of oil changes every 3,000 miles even though toyota only recommends every 6,000 miles. That was last June. Fastword to June 2017 plus a month (a month over the year repair warranty) and my car breaks down again (this past Monday, right after a routine oil change). Was told by Hoover Toyota that the noise I heard this time was bearings on the balance shaft of the connecting rods and those bearings have done damage (they replaced these bearings/balance shafts with the rebuild last year). Was told I would need an engine replacement at about $7450. My car isn't even worth that, I guarantee it. But Hoover Toyota is saying I'm a month out of the year repair warranty. But that's crap. Im still getting my oil changed every 3,000 even though they STILL say 6,000 miles is okay. Imagine if i would have followed that. I would have been within the repair warranty!! I could be dead! Also, the service manager said something about a top versus bottom engine rebuild. She said they gave customers the option to pay for the bottom half rebuild and they only took care of the top half. Which doesnt makes sense because, (a) they put a whole new short block assembly in (which should last way more than the 11,000 miles I put on it since its rebuild), (b) they never gave me the option to pay out of pocket! They never told me "hey we are responsible for half a rebuild but the problem may extend into the half that we are not responsible for"--thus putting me in danger! and (c) the "half" rebuild they did do cost them $7400!!! The quote to fix this problem again is AGAIN $7400! $15,000 for a total engine rebuild makes NO SENSE. People have gotten a replacement motor for $4500!! I'm a female, pretty evident to them, so I wonder if that has anything to do with it. But I'm also an engineering student less than a year away from my PhD, not so evident to them. Still "fighting" with the dealership and soon to be corporate, I would imagine. Toyota is losing a customer. Toyota is losing a customer. A lot of friends come to me for advice on cars (comes with territory of being an engineer) and I will give them my full and honest opinion and experience with Toyota. Let's see if Toyota will step up and correct this. More
