Good service in Honolulu Alyssa was most knowledgeable and really wanted to get the problem resolved well for me and for VW dealership. Dig a little deeper though, and one soon learns that  the old saying, "don't just a book by it's cover," really applies to this dealership, in a not so nice way. My main concern: false advertising. In early November 2017 I visited after seeing an excellent deal for a 2018 Tiguan S. As the vehicle was still in transit, the salesman showed me an upgraded model in the showroom and then explained that the information on Honolulu Volkswagen's website was erroneous, and the price the the Tiguan SE was significantly higher. He advised that his management would not honor the price on their website. Ok- mistakes happen, no worries. In mid November 2017, I saw another great deal, a 2018 Volkswagen Atlas S featured on Honolulu Volkswagen's website for $25,870. I promptly contacted the same salesman, expressed my excitement over the promo price, and scheduled a meeting and test drive. Upon arrival I was told that the vehicle was in transit, so I test drove an upgraded model. Salesman advised he would contact me as soon as the advertised vehicle was in stock. 2 days later I checked in with him and he advised that management would not honor the advertised price. Again. He explained that it was an error, and he apologized that "the people who mange our website" are making mistakes. I asked for him to follow up with his manager for clarity, but he never got back to me. Later I reached out to both Volkswagen America as well as Lithia (Honolulu Volkswagen's parent company) to express concern about this dealership's unethical sales and advertising practices. They both promised that Honolulu Volkswagen would reach out to me to explain the situation. More than a week has passed and no such efforts have been made. Had this false advertising scenario only played out once, I would have chalked it up to an unfortunate error. But twice in the same month- that's not an error, that's a management team proactively deceiving the public. Shame on them. More
