I had a really good purchasing experience at Serramonte Honda thanks to Nelson Tam! I am usually busy juggling multiple appointments so buying a car was not even a priority until one day when a drunk driver damaged both my parked cars. With the pandemic and supply shortage going on, all car prices went up. Even trying to get my hands on a rental car was extremely difficult during this period of time. I did some research on potential replacement vehicles but did not have time to drive all over the place nor did I desire to waste time doing back-and-forth negotiations that most folks have come to expect. Simply put, I had a budget I wanted to stick to, and I wanted a reliable vehicle so I can re-focus on other priorities in my life. I went to Serramonte Honda’s website late Friday afternoon and clicked on a button to request a quote. Within a few minutes, Nelson texted back confirming the car’s availability and if I wanted to come in for a test drive and go over some options. I was pretty busy so wanted to know the out-the-door price before driving to any dealership. The initial quote was high, but Nelson was able to work with his manager to make some magic happen. Not only did they meet the lower quotes I got elsewhere, but Serramonte Honda was able to beat those prices. This made it worthwhile for me to go down for a test drive. I had some appointments on Sunday so texted Nelson that I would be there later that afternoon. When I arrived, Nelson was there to greet me with a warm welcome. I explained to him what I was looking for in a car and how all these new car technologies were a bit foreign to me. He provided an overview of the car and its features before we went for a test drive. The test drive went fine, and we decided to move forward with the purchase. While the financing was in progress, Nelson prepped the car for us by filling up the tank and vacuuming the car. I asked if I could pick up the car tomorrow afternoon because I wanted to have it added to my insurance policy before taking it home. Nelson was very accommodating and let me know he would come on Monday to give me the keys and to provide me with greater in-depth information on the car’s features. This was very nice of Nelson considering he does not work at the dealership on Mondays but was willing to come in to see me through the process from beginning to end. On Monday, Nelson greeted us warmly upon arrival, and he gave us greater information on the car electronics. I may not remember it all I told him, and he said we could still contact him afterwards if we had questions and he also let us know of other videos online. I appreciate Nelson doing this because even though we routinely use our smartphones, getting used to electronic features in a car is a transition that still requires some learning. Nelson was very patient, and he is an excellent communicator. For folks with older cars, who are not yet accustomed to the inevitable new car technologies, I highly recommend working with a patient individual like Nelson. Nelson is an absolute pleasure to work with. He embodies what a good car purchase experience should be. I never felt like I was dealing with a salesperson. Instead, Nelson was more like a good friend who helped me through the entire car purchasing experience from beginning to end. He understood the value of my time, my budget, and my concern about using new car technologies. Like a good friend would, Nelson was patient and helped us become more comfortable regarding the car’s electronics. Also, kudos goes to the manager at Serramonte Honda for enhancing the customer experience. Nelson’s manager met us at the car to give us a warm welcome and congratulations on the new purchase. It is nice to meet the manager in-person who helped make the magic happen. He was very committed to making sure we had the best experience possible, and he said that if there is anything we think of that needs improvement, he would work towards making it happen. Kudos to Serramonte Honda management on the great culture from the top down! More
