AVOID! Juan was the absolute worst salesman I've ever dealt with. Traveled about an hour to this dealership after speaking to Mike on the phone regarding a RAV4. I let Mike know that I was interested in three vehicles but due to the distance I would like an out the door cost first. He let me know I could tack on about $3500.00 to the displayed total and that would be close. We made the drive, and upon arrival we met Juan. Juan let us know that Mike was a manager and that Juan would be showing us the cars. We looked at all three, everything was going great and we decided on one. Juan said he wanted to let us know about an “addendum” they have on EVERY vehicle, he assured us that all dealers have this. It would cost us an extra $3000 on top of the displayed price. We didn’t understand at first and asked for a breakdown. We waited about 15 minutes and Juan came back with a total… Our $16k car would cost us over $22,000.00 to purchase. That is over SIX THOUSAND DOLLARS in added fees. We had been car shopping for two days straight, and this news was enough for us to leave. Juan said “I can’t let you leave without talking to my managers first” and we responded and let him know we wouldn’t pay any more than $20k for the car. He said that would be impossible, we said no worries we will go. He said hold on, and scribbled $20k on a paper and asked us to sign it. A slimy salesman tactic, which wasn’t even necessary because we had already verbally committed. My dad was the one making the purchase so I told him not to sign, and let Juan know we’d be happy to purchase. I said “Sorry man, I’m not trying to be a (male body part) but we just want to make it happen” he responded with “Well you’re kind of being one”. My mind was blown. Juan didn’t know our situation. He didn’t know my mom had been diagnosed with cancer just months before and due to hospital bills we are strapped for cash. He had no idea my dad had just been Tboned in the family's only car. He didn’t know that car was purchased before prices skyrocketed and now its worth didn’t equate to an equal car. He didn’t know anything. He went on to say “I was a corrections officer, I’ve dealt with worse” when I asked him to elaborate. It’s sad, it’s sad that we were surprised with a $6k jump in price, it’s sad that we were disrespected, it’s sad that we never received an apology. We went to over 10 dealerships in two days, I have bought over 5 new cars in a span of just a few years and I can honestly say this was the worst experience yet. Ultimately we got the car at a little over $20k so there’s that. More
