Purchased a 2018 used car, 48hours later car had issues (truck would not lock), no grace period to return. Took car to dealer for inspection, rec'd 'detailed 'video' depicting 'several issues' with the car that had to be repaired (key fob sensor defective, oil pan leak, drive serpentine belt due to oil leak, rear struts, etc). Contacted Honda Of Oakland sales manager who said "the car had been expected as he worked on it". I asked for the HONDA inspection, he stated he would email it to me that day. Never received it, called sales manager back next day, left message still no response. Sent inspection video to sales person that sold me the car, no response. This experience with HOLDA OF OAKLAND is horrible, stay away! More
Brought my car in for repair, the price they charged was a lot higher than other honda dealer. The car never had problem start, but after they did some repair, the car had problem starting, they eventuall a lot higher than other honda dealer. The car never had problem start, but after they did some repair, the car had problem starting, they eventually decided to replace battery. We took to other honda near by, they told us batery was not leaned and the work they did was way to expensive. Didn't do a good job replacing the battery, according to the other honda. Called 3+ times, left messages, they never return my call, Couldn't get hold of them. Worse honda service i have had in the past 15 year. Won't be back. More
I recently visited Honda of Oakland with the expectation of finalizing the purchase of a vehicle at a price quoted after multiple communications over the last couple of weeks. Unfortunately, my experience s of finalizing the purchase of a vehicle at a price quoted after multiple communications over the last couple of weeks. Unfortunately, my experience starkly contrasted with these expectations, particularly regarding our agreed-upon purchase terms. We had agreed upon a specific model at a set price point, confirmed in writing before my visit. This agreement was the primary reason for my decision to finalize the purchase at Honda of Oakland. However, upon arrival, I was presented with a completely different vehicle. Entering the salesperson's office, it was hard not to be impressed by the walls, wallpapered with "Salesperson of the Month" plaques for the past 11 years, and a trophy larger than the Vince Lombardi trophy for "Salesperson of 2023." When the salesperson claimed he had quoted me the wrong vehicle price, it raised questions about the integrity of their business practices, especially given the salesperson's highly decorated status. How could such a mistake happen with so many accolades? It was clear then that neither he nor the manager intended to honor their written quote. The financial terms presented at the dealership, after the salesperson went back and forth to the manager several times, were significantly higher than those quoted initially. This discrepancy was not only surprising but deeply disappointing, as I had come prepared to make a purchase based on our agreed terms. Having been leasing cars for over 10 years, I have never felt so taken advantage of and overtly lied to. The next day, I visited Hayward Honda, where not only did they have the vehicle ready as per our discussions, but the numbers presented, including the valuation of my trade-in, matched exactly with their proposal. The process was transparent and straightforward, with no need for haggling to achieve the agreed-upon terms. This stark contrast only highlighted my disappointment with Honda of Oakland. The lack of honesty and the apparent disregard for ethical business practices were alarming. Trust and transparency are paramount in any transaction, especially in the purchase of a vehicle. Despite the salesperson's accolades, my experience was a testament to the contrary. For anyone considering Honda of Oakland for their next vehicle purchase, I would advise caution and recommend exploring other dealerships where agreed-upon terms are respected, and the buying process is conducted with integrity and transparency. The awards may suggest a commitment to excellence, but my experience suggests a significant gap between recognition and reality. More

My 2021 passport failed a smog test due to an issue with a fuel exhaust monitor. I was charged 480 dollars for 20-40 min of “work” which consisted of driving my car. (No actual work was performed.) I wa a fuel exhaust monitor. I was charged 480 dollars for 20-40 min of “work” which consisted of driving my car. (No actual work was performed.) I was told that the issues was caused by another dealership disconnecting my battery at a service performed 4 weeks prior. I was advised I should call that dealership and ask for a refund from them. I called the Santa Rosa Manley Honda dealership and was not only told that my battery had not been disconnected but also was sent a video on how I could have done this drive test myself and saved the money. Additionally the Santa Rosa dealership said that an hour of “work” - were they to do the drive test - would be around 200.00. I am a veterinarian that drives a ton for work - I understand that there are complexities I may not understand about cars - but this just feels like I was taken advantage of and charged an inordinate amount of money for an issues that is easy to fix. I have never written a “bad” review in my life. I have reached out to management at Oakland Honda and hope somebody will address this situation. More
I do not recommend this service shop. This was all on the invoice that Honda of Oakland gave me. These parts bounced around in my transmission until a few weeks ago they caught ahold of some gears and ripped a few teeth off, completely ruining my transmission. I had my mechanic and the warranty inspector confirm that the cause of my transmission was caused by negligent repairs done by Honda of Oakland. I even have the speed sensor stem that was inside my transmission in my possession. It is painfully obvious that the Honda of Oakland tech's negligence (not removing the speed sensor parts from my transmission) caused my transmission failure. I provided the Honda of Oakland service department supervisor all of this evidence and requested that they pay for the repairs on my transmission. He refused on the grounds that the warranty for the repairs had expired. Warranty or no warranty, the negligence of the Honda of Oakland tech is what caused my transmission failure. I should not be liable for the cost of the repair. I've been a Honda customer my whole life, I am so disappointed and will never buy a Honda again! More
