Great experience! Met salesperson on the lot and he asked me questions about what I was looking for, model, equipment, color, etc. He took me over to the perfect 2010 Pilot I described. I was able to asked me questions about what I was looking for, model, equipment, color, etc. He took me over to the perfect 2010 Pilot I described. I was able to test drive the Pilot as long as I wanted, the salesperson didn't rush me into returning to the dealership. We went inside and did some paperwork and the sales manager came right out to meet me. This really impressed me as I had been to another nearby dealership and the salesperson kept running back to the mystery sales manager somewhere in the dealership. Anyway, we quickly came to an agreed upon price,(a really good price) and I signed the paperwork. I didn't buy a top of the line Pilot, yet the salesperson went over a very detailed delivery of the vehicle. He showed me how everything worked and then some. I am reccomending Honda of Fife to all my family and friends. More
We have bought many cars over the years from Honda of Fife - both new and used. Every time the staff has been helpful and efficient and we have been overjoyed with our purchase (which is why we have kept Fife - both new and used. Every time the staff has been helpful and efficient and we have been overjoyed with our purchase (which is why we have kept coming back). We have also used the service center and have been pleased with just an oil change or more extensive work. The charges seem fair and sometimes work has even been done sooner than expected! Our latest purchase was a used Cadillac Escalade - which we love! They were able to get us the right car at the right price and we will be sure to come back when our needs change. More
The sales staff at Honda of Fife constantly seemed to be trying to put something over on my wife and I. We contacted the dealer over the internet and said that we were interested in using the Costco Auto trying to put something over on my wife and I. We contacted the dealer over the internet and said that we were interested in using the Costco Auto Program. They got back to me and set up an appointment for us to come in. We we arrived and asked to see the Costco pricing they basically refused to show us anything on paper and instead insisted that we just trust that what they were saying was true. In short they turned the no hassle Costco program that we were looking for into a huge fiasco and I have to say I wouldn't trust anyone in that building to sell hot dogs let alone new cars. More
I got charged $633.43 to replace the alternator on my 2004 Honda Element (35K miles). That seemed a little excessive to me. It included $295 for a rebuilt (not new)alternator, $186 in labor, and a $98 2004 Honda Element (35K miles). That seemed a little excessive to me. It included $295 for a rebuilt (not new)alternator, $186 in labor, and a $98 diagnostic fee. That was after i told them when I brought it in: "I think it needs a new alternator". I objected to the cost of the alternator, but they were unable to explain how their high priced alternator was any better than a $150 alternator I could get at the local auto parts store. I asked then to remove the charge for the diagnostic fee, since most shops will wave that it you do the work there. They refused. In any case, the best way to diagnose a alternator is to remove it and bench test it, if it fails you have half the replacement labor done. No reason for a diagnostic fee. They were unable or unwilling to tell me how they had "diagnosed" the alternator. It was a very bad experience, the more senior the manager, the ruder they got. Mr Lee (owner's son?) at one point was laughing at me. At no time did they show any concern for making me a satisfied customer. They have many awards hanging around the service department. I used to assume Honda gave them for superior service, but on close inspection, they dont realy say what they are for..... Maybe gouging customers. Take you business elswhere More
My fiance was looking to upgrade her car and we were checking out some cars on Fife's auto row. I recommended she try a Mercedes SLK-class after we looked at Mini's. Looking up SLK's on a car sales we checking out some cars on Fife's auto row. I recommended she try a Mercedes SLK-class after we looked at Mini's. Looking up SLK's on a car sales website, we found one at Honda of Fife. So we drove down the street and was immediately greeted by a sales person. Long story short, they are shameless and will try every tactic in the used car sales book to get you to buy their car. They start the price really, really high and you have to work hard at lowering the price. When offering to pay cash, they still want to run a credit application to either (1) determine the price you can afford, or I hope this is not the case (2) to defraud the customer into a financing agreement. Some of the tactics used: - Bait and switch on a car - Tag team between sales person and "sales manager" - Handing you a credit application when credit isn't being considered - Bad mouthing other dealerships - Bad mouthing other cars to sell you an overpriced car - Leaving telephone on speaker to listen in on conversation - Trying to "divide and conquer" playing my fiance and me off each other I don't have a horror story about this place because we both left. I don't know why I stayed that long; perhaps I had too much pride and thinking I can outsmart or outplay the salespersons. However, they are pros and I only buy a new car every other year, so I'm at a huge disadvantage. If you find the (used) car you want there, by all means, go ahead and buy it. But be careful and prepare to haggle for a few hours over price and show that you can walk away from the deal. If you want a new Honda, there are other places that will work with you better and get to the price you want quicker and easier. More
Practicing the sweet art of deception - WITH A PRO! I Practicing the sweet art of deception - WITH A PRO! I sold used cars for three years - two different dealerships. The first dealership I worked wit Practicing the sweet art of deception - WITH A PRO! I sold used cars for three years - two different dealerships. The first dealership I worked with, I learned ALL the tricks. The old playing the salesperson vs. Sales manager ploy, the whole "rate" game, and on and on. These morons think they are SOOOOO smooth. Hey guys - esp. the guy who made it a point to let me know he was Asian - OVER AND OVER AGAIN - #1 I'm not racist, a homophobe, or anything else. Your consistently making fun of your race was offensive - TO ME. That was turn off #1. Second - the whole ploy of taking the phone off the hook to listen in on our conversation was amateurish and stupid. If I had an air horn, I would have blasted it into the mouthpiece. In closing, asking how much I make a year is rude, and shows what a lack of intelligence you have. So that EVERYONE knows - apparently Honda of Fife is into ripping you off for all that you have, and more. Travel to a more respectable dealership where the salesperson has more respect for himself, and the dealership isn't there to steal all of your cash. More
When you sit down with the sales person and are ready to put in your intial offer they will tell you that they need some information from you that their sales manager needs when he brings the offer to him. put in your intial offer they will tell you that they need some information from you that their sales manager needs when he brings the offer to him. The form does not state it is credit application but it does ask all of pertinent questions. We told the saleman that we are cash buyers but he said he would still need it. My husband and I made the mistake and trusted him, and gave him our info. We found out later that when he went back to his sales manager our credit was being checked. We settled on an offer price and what we would get for our trade, and signed the deal. I was going to have to come in alone the next day, with my trade in and to pick up the new car which wasn't on their lot at the time, they had to get it from another dealer, and finish the paperwork because we had to leave for an appointment. We had to sign a contract with financing that we were told would be torn up when I came back with the trade in and to pick up the new car, very stupid on our part but we made the mistake of trusting them. Well the next day, my husband flew out of town and I felt very nervous about doing the deal without him and wanted to wait until his return. I called the dealer and told them that, I was threatened that if I didn't come in they were going to send my contract to the bank anyway, the car was mine, my payment book will be comming in the mail, and if they have to they will come park it in front of my house. I have been upset for days, the General Manager of the dealership would not even help us, and Corporate Honda could not help us either. My husband has to go to the dealership when he gets home, pick up a car from a dealership that was hateful to us, with financing that we didn't even want or need because they checked our credit when we did realize were filling out an application for it. Be very careful, learn from us, read everything and get everything in writing. More
I was looking for a new Honda Civil sedan, I had been pricing them on the internet and Costco Auto so I knew about what I should pay. I stopped in on a Sunday and Josh came out to show mw cars. During th pricing them on the internet and Costco Auto so I knew about what I should pay. I stopped in on a Sunday and Josh came out to show mw cars. During the test drive he took the car up to 65MPH and locked up the brakes to show mw the proportianal braking. So after some negotiation he said he would sell me a 2009 Civic DX sedan for 17k. And he said they would beat anyones price. So I went to South Tacoma Honda, they quoted me 17,100 for a 2009 Civic LX sedan, I sent the price and info over to Fife to see if they would beat it. Nope all they did was trash talk the other dealer and finally ended the conversation by telling me I'd be back. Now Josh has called me twice tell me he doesn't appreceate me going to another dealer. I hung up on him the first time, when he called the next day to try and berate me i told him if he called agian I would be down to see him in person, and he wouldn't like the outcome. The price was not the best, but it was okay. The service, however, was horrible; this, not the price, was the dealbreaker for me. The internet sales person bad-mouthed other dealerships, saying t service, however, was horrible; this, not the price, was the dealbreaker for me. The internet sales person bad-mouthed other dealerships, saying that the prices that they were quoting me were inaccurate and that they would not honor them, and he gave the very distinct impression that new customers were NOT a priority for Honda of Fife. In his words, the car I wanted "will sell before it get here, just as all of them do." Not only is this a bullying tactic (ie: "buy this car now or you'll lose it"), but it also says to me, as a person looking for a dealership that I can do business with long-term, that Honda of Fife do not need new customers. I know that, ultimately, it is all about the sale to these guys; however, there are plenty of other dealerships out there who at least try to give the impression that the customer is priority. If Honda of Fife will so blatantly put the sale before the customer this early in the game...I'd hate to think of how they treat you once they've reeled you in. More
I've bought nearly 10 cars over my life, with most of last ones being european luxury name plates. I was ready for a reliable car that would drive nice, look good, have most of the comforts I have been last ones being european luxury name plates. I was ready for a reliable car that would drive nice, look good, have most of the comforts I have been used to and wouldn't kill me down the road with maintenance $$$ as the Volvo, Mercedes and BMWs do once your over 60K miles. Anyway, my dad and uncle have operated dealerships and I learened a lot about the business as I grew up around it. The old school way of doing things was too frustrating for me to deal with (especially because I really understand the dealership part of this business), so most of my last cars I've bought through fleet sales since "cars are cars". I went to the dealership with no intention of buying. I spent about an hour and half with David E., a senior salesperson. I quizzed him about various Hondas and what were the minute changes between model years. I'm kind of a car head, and it's fairly hard to b.s. me without me knowing it. Anyway, he was very knowledgeable and as luck would have it a barley used trade of a top line Accord V6 (certified) had just come in. I drived the car, it was as good as the new one, even still had that new leather smell. I made an offer, there was a little back and forth, I got a fair price and the deal was done. Sales Manager was very respectful. F&I lady (Kate, I think) was nice and knowledgeable. Overall, experience with Honda of Fife was outstanding. These folks were fair, ethical and respectful. I read a couple of the 2004 reviews here and would tell you things have significantly changed at this dealership. They have brought in new people and are operating the way Honda expects it's dealers to perform. I think they have won President's Award 2 years running. If your in the market for a Honda, ask for Dave E. He treated me right and am sure he'd do right by you also. More
