I just wanted to note the horrible service experience I had at Honda of Downtown Chicago. I have a vehicle purchased in 2016 and had been going to them for service since then, which is a total of a lot of had at Honda of Downtown Chicago. I have a vehicle purchased in 2016 and had been going to them for service since then, which is a total of a lot of experiences. I am now done with this location and will likely never trust a Honda dealership for service again. I will try to give the shorter version of my encounter. The summary is simply “this dealership is not trustworthy”. They falsely will charge more than necessary and exaggerate the work. Additionally, the service is horrible. I’ll start with the second. I went in with an appointment for an oil change. Approximately 3.5 hours in, I was given some info to go through. I elected not to do the services. An hour and a half later after people took their lunches and enjoyed themselves, I was informed that NO WORK WAS DONE TO MY CAR. Why do I have to wait 5 hours to be told my car cannot be serviced. This is after I had to ask 3 times what the status was. If my car cannot be serviced, I should be told as soon as this becomes apparent. I should not ever have to wait for 5 hours for an oil change only to hear the oil change could not be done. I should not be the one to have to ask about the car either when there’s a problem. I was told this wait time was “normal” which is absurd. I specifically said I’d ask corporate if that meets their expectations. For the dishonesty part, I was told work could not be done cause the last oil change used the wrong fasteners on the belly pan. They said the part would need to be sawed off and the service was nearly $500 to cut and replace. The pan costs less than $40 online, Honda OEM. The fasteners are similar total. So why is there almost $400 extra for labor? I went to Jiffy Lube immediately after and they did my oil change in 15 minutes without sawing anything. Now, I understand Honda has standards. That’s fine. I’m not asking to break that. But why tell me the cost is so high to saw something when it doesn’t need to be sawn off? Jiffy Lube got it off, did the oil change, and refastened without a saw. This clearly was an up charge hoping to take advantage of a loyal customer. What should have been done was remove the panel, do the oil change, and charge me the parts that needed replacing. The “labor” was the same as removing and reattaching the part as any oil change. The only difference is literally grabbing the parts to replace from the warehouse. Is that $400? Rip offs… scam artists. If you go here, I recommend you have a shop ready to call to price check. More
A17 maintenance on a Honda CR-V Hybrid with less then 20k miles. Its a simple reminder for oil change, brake fluid check and tire rotation. When my wife brought the car in they said you need new transmissi miles. Its a simple reminder for oil change, brake fluid check and tire rotation. When my wife brought the car in they said you need new transmission fluid and tire alignment. $795. that is nuts....what makes it worse is when i called in to inquiry about an A17 Maintenance they quoted the basic fee of $129. Still trying to take advantage of customers, particularly women, More
Took my Honda to be checked for rust in the front sub-frame, coolant leak and general inspection whether it was viable to repair the front sub-frame and keep the car. All I got was a video and very sub-frame, coolant leak and general inspection whether it was viable to repair the front sub-frame and keep the car. All I got was a video and very short, poorly written report stating what I already knew, that the sub-frame was rusted and broken, with additional info on other parts that were rusted. No word on the rear sub-frame, which I had specifically asked about, so I don't know if it was inspected or not. No word on rust on other parts of the car, so I was not given a general opinion about the condition of the car. The inspection was very expensive for literally a 1 min video. I understand it took time to raise and lower the car, but I was charged for 1 full hour for something that Firestone did for free (they told me about the broken sub-frame). I was also charged for 1 h to inspect the coolant leak to receive an inconclusive and useless report. Could there be a leak somewhere or not, who knows? $200 for that. I took my car on a Sat at 11 AM and was told my car was going to be ready that day. Instead, I was asked to return on Monday, after hours and hours waiting in the neighborhood. When I got there on Tuesday morning I still had to wait 1 h for them to close the ticket because the mechanic didn't do it, despite the fact that Glenn called me on Monday to say the car was ready for pick up. Despite paying $400 I was not allowed to talk to the mechanic. All I got was the 1 min video and the poorly written report. At my local mechanic I can talk to the person who actually serviced my car, much better. This dealership makes me want to never buy a Honda again. More
