Had an Amazing Experience at Honda of Denton—Just Not in a Good Way Drove up to Honda of Denton yesterday after the salesman I’d been working with said he was going to order my 2022 Accord EX-L Hybrid. a Good Way Drove up to Honda of Denton yesterday after the salesman I’d been working with said he was going to order my 2022 Accord EX-L Hybrid. He just needed me to drop off a deposit check and sign a few things, or so he said. Total price, including dealer add-ons, delivery, taxes etc. should have been just under $38,000. Dealer was asking $48,000+, including a $5000 “Market Adjustment” and around $4700 for the dealer add-ons, about six times the MSRP on the Honda website (The MSRP for the add-ons is $508, plus about $300 for window tinting.). Josh explained that the numbers on the Honda website are “way off” and, besides, they do not include the “installation cost” for the add-ons which is extra. In every previous car purchase I’ve made, the dealer add-ons always included installation—now suddenly they don’t? Plus, I’m not sure how long it takes to install floormats and a trunk tray, but I’m pretty sure the door edge film takes about 15 minutes if you include a smoke break. Splash guards are less than 30 minutes, and window tinting should be less than 2 hours according to a few tinting places I contacted. You do the math. Last, the dealer included a line item called miscellaneous fees or something similar which added up to $300+. When I asked what the fees were, Josh said they were fees for roads, railroads and the like. I asked them to itemize the fees for me and the exact amount for each but, strangely enough, they couldn’t do it. Stranger still, I looked online and couldn’t find any basis for the fees whatsoever, leading me to think they were entirely bogus. At that point I just walked out. When I shop for a car, I normally start with the MSRP and push the dealer down from there. Given the current environment I was willing to swallow my pride and pay full MSRP for the car. After all, dealers need to make a profit, too. That said, this is my seventh car purchase and I’ve never experienced such a brazen attempt to overcharge a customer. I don’t know if they singled me out because they think I’m stupid, or if they just think their customers have more money than brains. In any case, if you do decide to shop at Honda of Denton, please go in there with your eyes wide open and armed with facts. More

Bought a used Honda from them 18-24 months ago. First sign of trouble was when they quote a price for a 2012 - but - suddenly, gosh our records are so poor, we just noticed it is actually a 2011 - uh, but the price is the same. An entire wheel hub had to be immediately replaced - at our expense since we did not notice it when wrangling the threesome of sales grifters we were involved with. Hondas are good cars. We have owned several used and new ones. Bad dealers come in all stripes; this is the first time we have dealt with a disreputable Honda dealer. Had we read Google reviews, we would not have. (was required to check off names - do not recall who we dealt with - would have to say they were equally bad) More
