I was shocked when I brought my vehicles in for service yesterday and today to find that none of service people are wearing masks, in spite of the fact that Story county is undergoing a virus spike. Most of the visitors were wearing masks and also the sales people. The reason one of the service people gave me was that wearing masks was optional, so they chose not to wear them. I told Mel that the optics of this were very bad, but it did not phase him. More

The Service Department does a fine job with maintenance and repairs and deserves a good rating. But the dealership, including its service department, does not require its employees to wear masks or to soc and repairs and deserves a good rating. But the dealership, including its service department, does not require its employees to wear masks or to social distance, the only measures now available to mitigate the coronavirus pandemic. The service agent who finalized my bill (not Jeff Searcy, who greeted me without a mask and within 6 feet when I arrived) said he doesn't wear a mask because it would not help him due to his exposure to so many people in a day not wearing masks. So he protects his family by immediately bathing and changing clothes when he gets home. He did not understand that his wearing a mask would help protect me and other customers from COVID-19, especially those of us in a high-risk group. Wearing a mask is not a political statement; it is a life and livelihood statement, one that just today was verified and advocated by leading Republican leaders in the US House and Senate who now support wearing masks. The Honda of Ames dealership, and Lithia Motors, should do what Menards has done from the start of the pandemic: require workers and customers to wear masks and to socially distance. We all should have the freedom to live through this pandemic, even when it compromises our freedom of movement and congregating with others. By the way, the service department promised that my steering wheel would be covered in plastic, and it wasn't. Honda of Ames is derelict in protecting the lives and livelihoods of its customers and employees. It is not doing so, so I give a two star rating to a company that up until now has clearly been a five star company for me. Its management needs to begin being part of the solution to the pandemic, not a contributor to unnecessary deaths, lost employment, bankruptcy, horrendous hospital bills, family grief and grieving. Dangerously bad rotors and break pads on a Certified Pre Owned. Then you only replaced the back ones. One of the rotors even had a chunk missing. you weren't even supposed to let this vehicle leave your lot. It even had some collision damage on the front body I did not notice before I test drove it, and which the other Honda dealership claims you HAVE to fix before you sell the vehicle as CPO. You couldn't even clean the rust on the rotors. A different Honda dealership gave me a 50% discount on their inspection service after apologizing FOR YOU. More
Was over charged for an oil change. Charged me over $77. I told him NO on the rotation of tires when they checked me in. I told him NO on the rotation of tires when they checked me in. More

Not long ago I had to drive right over a step-ladder in my lane of I-35--there was too much traffic on either side. Tremendous bang underneath my car, but no red warning lights or trouble driving home. Honda of Ames got me in as quickly as possible to check for damage; quite relieved to have no problems at all. Not long after that visit, I had a routine maintenance appointment. I got in and out in good time with an alert that my brakes are likely going to be due for some work. I have a 2013 Accord with 82,000 miles on it, so the brakes have done well by me. I have always been treated with utmost courtesy and promptness; I can recommend this dealership to anyone anywhere.
