I have had good experiences at Ames Honda. The place is clean, staff friendly and helpful. I had gone to Marshalltown since it was closer but quit after they were no longer a dealer. There are reviews after reviews talking about expensive car issues after purchasing… ridiculous!! 0/5 stars!!! I don’t usually read or write these.. please take the 3 mins to read this one!! I bought my ca car issues after purchasing… ridiculous!! 0/5 stars!!! I don’t usually read or write these.. please take the 3 mins to read this one!! I bought my car 8/9/23… it’s 9/25/23. I’ve already had 3 SEPARATE issues with said vehicle. The first one was a joke & a half being strung around different department’s voicemails, sending multiple emails to get help, to sending me to other dealerships, while wasting my time & money. I had a part wrong (idk name rn) w my car not letting my gear shift. I made an appt for a Thursday, but wanted to make sure it was covered by the expensive xxx warranty so i got my vehicle up to ames (live in ankeny) the Tuesday before for my appt for them to confirm it’s covered. one mechanic heard what I thought was wrong.. didn’t do a diagnostic test, popped the hood, & they say “yep we know what part you need, we will call you when that part is here” Thursday comes I don’t get what I needed fixed, Manager called & told me it was a recalled part so i had to take it to a ford dealership specifically.. ok cool ford fusion) made an appt 5 days away from my original appt w HOA, got it there & they tell me they have no idea what recall part i’m talking about.. ford calls HOA to try & make some sense of it, HOA then admits to it not being a recalled part…. I call HOA AGAIN to try and get ANOTHER appt scheduled to fix my non operating vehicle. they tell me they can try to get me in later that week…. I continued to call and call until someone finally answered & called me back. talked w the service manager they were able to fix it that day & I insisted I wasn’t paying for this. - extremely annoyed, but wasn’t gonna make a review bc in the end they “fixed it” & I didn’t pay said deductible for it. HOWEVER check your batteries. mine… completely dead & wont take a charge. I took it to get a free battery test at orileys (love that store) & bc of the brand/ placement of said xxxxty battery they couldn’t help me take it out, needs done by a mechanic. had to get it towed to a mechanic to get a replacement battery ($600 w battery, work & tow) the mechanic did work on it & other safety tests. they let me know that my front break pads are beyond a safety concern at 2mm, my rotors need replaced & my break fluid is extremely old. They then quoted me an additional $900 for that work. My point in this review, MAKE SURE to get all safety tests & a complete inspection done before buying! I purchased a warranty, but these are all wearable products, not covered by said warranty of course. I have not had this vehicle long enough to create wear & tear on said parts. an honest dealership would have taken care of all of these issues & problems before selling as most of them were safety concerns causing the vehicle to not operate. I will scream this from the rooftops- Honda of ames is one of the sleaziest xxx dealerships you can go to! More
