Sam was very helpful and understood exactly what I was looking for. He wasn't too pushy and listened to my needs instead of trying to push anything I might not have wanted/needed. At first, when we were looking for something used, he was accommodating, but we ended up buying new anyway! Thanks, Sam. More

Full disclosure: Went in to purchase the Honda Fit, knew exactly what I wanted from mass amounts of Internet research. Jerry was helpful and efficient. Jerry was nice from start to finish and we were able to meet a fair price on the new car and my trade-in. WHAT I WISH I WOULD HAVE KNOW BEFORE PURCHASING: We worked with Matt in financing. I will try to keep my personal opinion of Matt out of my review, but let me say from first impressions, I was not impressed and found him to be evasive and sneaky. The banks were closed when we walked into Matt's office. Matt presented us with an offer that I would not even begin to entertain. We got the "going out on a limb for you" line and he came back with a Honda financed offer. I accepted with the knowledge that he would check with the banks in the morning and I would return to the dealership to sign final papers after the best APR was located. Matt informed us that to take the Honda financed offer we would have to purchased the GAP insurance, and the 100,000 mile warranty. This added $3,000 to the total priced. I agreed. The next day Matt called and said to come back in, he had good news. When I asked Matt who was offering the best financing, he would not answer directly. He said he was "still working on it" with his Honda rep and he would have all the details for me when I came to the dealership. Odd. So my husband called Matt and asked for the specific details, and Matt would not say which bank was offering the financing or the APR amount. I get to the dealership and Bank of America was offering the best rate. So we signed the paper work etc. HERES THE PROBLEM: I am not stupid. I know Matt made money off of the sale by getting me to purchase the GAP insurance and Honda warranty. He would not tell me the final details of the financing because I could have said, remove the warranty and GAP insurance as we are no longer financing through Honda. Matt is very transparent, and what makes it even worse is that he could have been forthright and honest, and I still would have purchased the GAP insurance. MY ADVICE TO YOU: know that the real money is made in the financing office. Even if you are tired or just want the process to be over, hold strong to your final offer. I should have left the Fit at the dealership overnight and said I would come back in the AM once the banks were open and could respond. FINAL THOUGHTS: I liked Jerry our salesman but not enough to overcome the distaste for Matt. We are a young couple that has just started our journey into kid friendly cars, and will be purchasing a lot of vehicles in the years to come. Honda on Grand, and more specifically Matt, did not see the big picture and was willing to lose a lifetime of our business for $3,000. That's a pretty cheap price to sell your scruples. More
Went in on Saturday to look at a car that was shown on cars.com for my daughter. When the decision was made to purchase the financing department said it was too late in the day to contact the banks for a cars.com for my daughter. When the decision was made to purchase the financing department said it was too late in the day to contact the banks for approval. We made arangements to have them send the application first thing Monday morning and to call with the results. No call, no info. Called Monday at 1 with no answer they said they would call back at 4. There was no call until 5pm with the news the car was sold because financing forgot to send in the application and another sales person sold the car bacause it was not marked as on hold for approval. I have rated each category in this survey with a 5 (great), because of the excellent service provided by Bob Swanson. Who exceeded my expectations. From the first email, call, and to the purchase of m (great), because of the excellent service provided by Bob Swanson. Who exceeded my expectations. From the first email, call, and to the purchase of my new vehicle he was honest, put himself in our shoes, and followed through with his promises. He did not play any games, he understood our need, and provided the best solution accordingly, and within our budget. I have not met a person of such high integrity, in the car sales business, before I met Bob Swanson. He took the time to go through faithfully even every minute feature, and detail of the car. I commend him, and He should be recognized for the hard work he does. I would without hesitation recommend him, to other friends, and family. More
Bob did an outstanding job in all aspects of the sale - from the great starting price to final delivery of the car. He even did some personalized Service work on the car the next day in our driveway (he's from the great starting price to final delivery of the car. This Dealership without question is utterly the (poorest) quality Dealer/service establishment to do business with. Upon every visit to Honda on Grand for service, the service reps/managers scrupulously che quality Dealer/service establishment to do business with. Upon every visit to Honda on Grand for service, the service reps/managers scrupulously cheat money out of customers in any way possible. Reps always pressure customers to approve extra parts and labor that is not even needed. The reps refuse to let customers say no. When asked about questionable prices ,the reps repeatedly try to avoid the situation and rudely disengage. The prices of some parts are exageratedly outrageous and the reps themselves know it which is why they try to disengage the conversation when being questioned about the prices. The experience of purchasing a new/used vehicle from Honda on Grand was also a Terrible experience. Rude, lackluster and scrupulous Sales and finance reps/managers made for an unacceptable buying experience. Even the New car dealer switch board operator is extremely poor quality and rude. Honda on Grand has permanently lost the business of this customer. After looking around the internet, clearly it seems the word has already spread to avoid Honda on Grand at all costs. On a scale of 1 - 5 this Dealership's staff rates at a -10. Do NOT purchase a vehicle from this dealership. Do NOT bring any business to this delarship for service. Avoid at all costs. More
When you are in the market for a vehicle, if you are like me, you are looking for the best deal possible and you are expecting to be treated respectfully. Bob Swanson at Honda on Grand in Elmhurst met both t me, you are looking for the best deal possible and you are expecting to be treated respectfully. Bob Swanson at Honda on Grand in Elmhurst met both those criteria for me. I test drove the Odyssey and the Sienna at a couple of dealers each, researched both extensively, and once I decided it was going to be the Odyssey, I interacted with 6 first, then another 3, and then 3 more, for a total of 12 Honda dealers, mostly by email. A very few of them, including Bob, responded to every email of mine, and answered all my questions directly and politely, and I knew I would be buying from one of them. Bob's price was not the lowest to start with, but I was able to negotiate a better deal with him. He was able to get the color I was looking for and that too, without any add-ons!! When I walked in to the dealership, after ascertaining that Bob was working that day, I found it neat and friendly and I was treated courteously. He took me for a test drive, even though I told him I had already done so. He wanted me to try the vehicle I was interested in buying and also take it on the highway. After the deal was done, and I was working out the loan and such with the finance person, Bob was personally cleaning up my vehicle and fixing the license plates outside. When I was done, he sat in the vehicle with me for 15 minutes and meticulously went over some of the details of the vehicle. He obviously was not just concerned about making a sale, but he genuinely wanted me to be satisfied. He even called me a couple of days later to find out how my family liked it and if I had any questions for him. I am buying a vehicle after 8 years, so my experience is limited in this area, but for what it is worth, here is my advice: Do your research well, know exactly how much it costs and how much you are willing to pay, ask for the total price including fees, tax, license, etc. so you can compare apples to apples, don't be frustrated with the lack of progress (it took me 6 weeks altogether including research), get your quotes in writing (by email, possibly). If you are planning on getting a loan, have a pre-approved loan, just in case, and finally, hope you find people like Bob. More
