I would like to apologize to you for what seems to be a massive communication error on our part. As you know vehicles are becoming scarce and in short supply. We have been trying to hold as many cars as we can for our own customers to give them some preferential pricing. The problem and error was that when the salesperson got the pricing they didn't realize that you were a current Honda City customer. And for that I am sorry that your visit was not up to the normal level that you have come to expect from Honda City. As you know all of our staff tries to work hard to do the very best we can. As a dealer serving the Levittown/Bethpage area for the last 44 years we understand what it means to do the right thing for our previous customers, which I am sure is why you have been a customer of ours for the past 10 years! But unfortunately it is true that mistakes do happen and it it unfortunately did happen on your visit. However, even though due to the error you purchased your car at a different dealer we still would like to congratulate you on your new vehicle. The 2022 civic is really a great car and we are sure you are going to love it. Christina as worked for us for many years and I have never had a complaint about customer service in fact it is usually a letter expressing praise. Thank you for your visit, we love the new dealership and are glad you loved it too. We use a computerized system to value our used cars and we give you the real actual value. Many places will show the value as a trade allowance that while it may appear to give more for the trade in some cases it actually is just a inflated number. Some also will give a higher number but then charge you a dealer fee or a prep fee to offset the higher number. We would be happy to go over in detail how we arrived at our appraisal and give you a very clear price that has no hidden fees or confusing details. Our General Sales Manager would love to talk with you and explain in more detail exactly how we arrive at our numbers. Honda City has been serving the Nassau county area for the last 44 years and want our customers to feel comfortable with all parts of the deal. I have in the past purchased vehicles from Honda City in the old building. I understand that you have expenses, such as erecting your beautiful new space, and that perhaps the trade in and prices over MSRP are needed to pay for it and of course with a limited supply of inventory you need to make up the volume shortfall with higher prices, which I hope will abate over time. It is true that prices vary among dealerships and some try to charge dealer fees. The dealers I purchase from do not charge these fees and provide better pricing than you did in this particular case. I am glad David was professional and knowledgeable and he consistently gives his customers a great experience. Your experience with the vehicle appraiser is something we want to correct as our expectation is that you should have a great, courteous and professional experience with each of your encounters with any of our staff, and this is something we will address internally. From what it sounds like, there was a miscommunication between value and equity. While there may be no equity from the leasing company the vehicle does have value.
