The negative equity has nothing to do with your credit score, rather it is the difference between what your trade-in is worth and what the lease buy-out on it is. Honda Cars of Bellevue responded

I can certainly understand your frustration that you were not able to take home your new Odyssey on Saturday. But I would ask you to see this from our perspective. You brought in a hand written check from a lending source we have never used before. In fact I have never seen a loan check like the one you brought in. On a Saturday we have no way of verifying the check or verifying that your lender has everything they need to allow us to actually cash the check. If you had told us that this was the type of check you were bringing in, we would have told you to wait until Monday before coming back in. If you had brought the check in during the week while our accounting department was open we most likely been able to verify everything and you would have been able to take delivery of your new car. We did give you the option of signing a bank contract with one of our lenders that would have allowed you to take your new car on Saturday. This would have allowed us to verify your check on Monday. If everything checked out okay we would have cashed your check, the other bank contract would have been destroyed and the loan never processed. The only way we would have processed our bank contract is if there was a problem with your check and we were unable to reach you to get it corrected. Again, I am very sorry that you were not able to take delivery of your new Odyssey on Saturday. I hope you can understand we were just protecting ourselves and we did give you an option that would have allowed you to take the vehicle on Saturday. Matthew Schworer General Manager
