Conflicted Customer. On the other hand, the overall car buying experience @ Hollywood Kia felt quite overwhelming, rushed, pushy (sharks on attack mode) and to some extent deceitful. You go from sales associate to finance to insurance, et., et. and they all smile of course all the while giving you every lie in the book. All the tricks of the trade and pressures of sales tactics piled on thick from the very moment you drive up. Lets now get to the actual purchase of a vehicle and a few things to look out for. Buyer beware! They tell you they are giving you a so called "discount" which turns out not to be a discount at all just the cost of all the additional crap they sell you on taken off at the beginning to look like a discount then tacked on at the end. Of course, it's optional but given the manner in which they push and rush there's little to no time to truly process and/or assess one's own thoughts in the spur of the moment lest I fail to mention that you're given little to no time to review the stacks of paperwork they put before you. Then again that is their strategy and goal and if one knowingly goes in to the "shark tank" one should know they bite so shame on me. :-( Then there is the matter of so called "included" things (i.e. warranties, service plans, accessories, et.) that are really not included at all. I'll explain in part. The vehicle that I purchased had a window sticker that stated that it included "cargo area concealed storage" & "cargo features - inc: spare tire mobility kit" and it also had a certified pre-owned 165-point inspection check sheet that was completed and signed off on that further stated "jack, jack handle & lug nut tool present" & "valet lock out key present" yet none of those things were present in my vehicle. Only after my husband asked about them did the sales associate say that none were included but that he'd "see what he could do". As if he was doing us a grand gesture of providing us with something free. Did he oblige in some manner, yes albeit not exactly what was described in the documentation and I still never received a "valet lock out key" even though I asked for one. The sales associate informed me that there was none to provide me with. Was I appreciative, yes quite, even though I knew that it was most likely bull s?@#. I didn't want to be unkind as the sales associate was just doing his job and did so in a respectful manner. Shamefully so, I do have to say that I purchased the vehicle anyway and went on my way but I did go back and kindly asked for the items that were stated as included. I spoke to a sales manager (or so I was told that was his title), I believe his name was Jose Zamora, who proceeded to tell me that just because the sticker on the vehicle and the certified pre-owned 165-point inspection check sheet say something is included that does not mean it is. When I told him that they "shoot themselves in the foot" with the window sticker and inspection report descriptions which are in writing he again stated that doesn't mean they are included. Wow, I don't get that. So basically one is buying something painted as a pretty picture yet it's truly ugly. What they print on paper means absolutely nothing. That's pretty disgusting and deceitful practice. They draw you in with fancy wording and making one think that one is receiving all these wonderful benefits for said purchase then once they hook and reel you in it turns out to all be lies. If they put it in writing they should comply. This gentleman had the audacity to smile in my face and tell me that is how it is and that he could do nothing. How would they like it if they purchased something that they thought had certain inclusions only to be told they really don't after the purchase was final? I'm certain they'd have much say and dispute. I asked him to humor me and at the very least give me a jack and at first he said no he could not and that they didn't have any to give me. I told him that they have the kits for sale (which is what they truly want customers to do, buy them) so if they have them for sale that means that they have some in stock and all of a sudden he had a change of heart and just like the sales associate had done he proceeded to tell me he'd see what he could do to find me a freaking jack. He then instructed his sales associate to "go find her one" in one of the used vehicles. Oh wait and there's more, he then gave me a hug as if he too had extended some grand gesture of kindness to my person or some sort of freebie that he wasn't supposed to. He made it seem like it was some kind of hush, hush favor. How sad and pathetic. I reciprocated with a hug, smiles, laughter and humor as if I was somehow clueless, or so they thought. In the end, I was obliged with their idea of a kindness by way of a jack & jack handle (not a complete kit). In sum, I had both a positive and negative experience but I did leave with the vehicle that I wanted. More
