When you brought in your Rav4 our certified technician connected the scan tool to check for wires and any open codes. He also checked the range of the sensors which takes time and training. This is an important part of the process as it provides you with the most accurate information, something that a bluetooth device will not provide. Although you can use the bluetooth tools they will only indicate the area of concern rather than pinpoint the location which is what our scan tool provides. In addition to the cost of the 02 sensor there is also a labor charge which would explain the difference in cost if you choose to only purchase the parts and install yourself. We recommended replacing your brakes at your previous visit, and based on the current wear it appears you installed new brake pads without resurfacing the rotors. Toyota recommends resurfacing the rotors when performing a brake job to ensure they last according to specs. Again, this increases the cost of the service performed, but is recommended in the best interest of your vehicle maintenance. If you had requested for us to install brake pads only the cost would have been lower. We trust this helps to clarify everything.
