At the time of re On September 15, 2018 I purchased a 2016 Dodge Charger from Beaverton Hertz Car Sales. This car at the time had 37,184 miles on it. At the time of repairs the car had 39,748 miles. Roughly 2564 miles driven. On November 30, I was heading to work around 8 am after a doctor appointment, heading east on TV Highway at or around Hall Street when a weird sound started. I quickly pulled into a parking lot of a bank and proceeded to inspect the vehicle. At this time I found that the front right wheel was at a 70 – 80’ angle. Ball joint failure. I then notified the closes Dodge dealer and got the vehicle towed to xxxxx Country Dodge, Hillsboro. After an inspection, I was informed that this vehicle appears to have hit a curb that caused the damage to create the for mentioned. There was even a bolt missing. They said that they could not repair this vehicle under the power train warranty due to the fact it had been wrecked and was not the fault of Dodge. I then contact Hertz of the situation and they informed me that they are not liable because of some made up reason. The car was supposed to be inspected by a 3rd party inspection which no longer works for them. I was also informed that this would have to go through Corporate, and they, Jason, would file a report. That was on the 1th and today is the 12th. I have not heard from them yet. It is obvious that this vehicle did not go through an inspection. After the repairs were complete I had Dodge do a complete inspection on the vehicle. If an inspection had been done before the sale I would think that the suspension and drive train to be the first to be checked. I was told prior to purchase that this vehicle had been inspect and the visual inspection of this vehicle that I did, this car was in excellent condition. They did show me a document of the inspection and the minor repairs done, and that this vehicle came from the Seattle area. But somehow that document was never given to me. One thing that bothers me the most is that I was only traveling 5 – 10 MPH. Mostly sitting at a stop light, but what if I was on I-5 at highway speed. This whole thing could have been a lot worse. The cost of the repairs was not that much, but Hertz needs to step up to the plate and take responsibility. More
