In getting my oil change I was told that I needed a new timing belt since I was getting close to the 80K replacement requirement on my 2005 Jetta TDI. I had it changed at 78K. Since it was changed I have f timing belt since I was getting close to the 80K replacement requirement on my 2005 Jetta TDI. I had it changed at 78K. Since it was changed I have found out that the belt did NOT need to be changed until 90K per the manual that came with the car on page 22. this is not the first incident where the service recommendations have been off. The work was done correctly on this service unlike several times before. Had a broken mirror repaired only to have the car released to me with broken parts still in place. Trunk hinges were replaced and I found the trunk was not aligned properly and when it was shut, it touched the back window and was not centered and the height not adjusted. Magic marker lines were still in place on the trunk lid so they knew where to place the trunk lid. Unfortunately, they were incorrect. Glad it did not break the window when the lid was closed. I was also accused of not knowing how to drive a clutch. Needed a replacement at 40K. When it was removed it looked NEW with very little wear. "Second Jetta with the same issue" I was told they never saw the problem before. I just came from a local VW aftermarket shop that understands the issue, and has a proven fix for it! Early in the cars life, I found out the oil that was used in the TDI did not meet the VW 505.01 spec, It does now. This has been reported on many of the TDI web sites as well. Why do I keep going back you ask? I am asking the same question. To be fair, when I have complained they have taken care if the issues. Ron's recommendations- Check the work! Read the manual! When we came in to purchase a new Jetta TDI we were not informed of a recall that had been issued until two days latter when the sales department informed us that we could not receive our car until the rec informed of a recall that had been issued until two days latter when the sales department informed us that we could not receive our car until the recall was complete. We signed papers on the vehicle and nothing was mentioned. We finally took delivery ten days after our intial visit and are very pleased with the product. VW makes a very good vehicle and I will recomend VW and Heritage to friends and family, communication just needs to be improved. Customers that want a good product will wait, don't be afraid to be upfront with all the facts instead of telling people after the deal is done. Your internet reprsentative, Mr. Young, was a very strong point in getting us in the door in the first place. More
Herb qwas great. He stuck with us for over two months to find the right car. He went out of hisway to make sure we could see a car from another dealership, came in on his day off, and used his influence at find the right car. That was the car we ended up buying. No fault of Her's but it amazes me that with advances in technolgy, it STILL takes two hours to actually purchase the car once you have decided. That seems to be the case everywhere. That whole process needs to be fixed. More
This is the 2nd VW we have purchased from this dealer and all in all, it is a great experience. I love the my new Tiguan, even though I wasn't able to get my first choice in color (or my 2nd choice). I did my original inquiry for this car via the internet - received an email quote with color choice being no problem at all. I was able to get my third choice of color. I'm not quite sure I got it for the price I was quoted, but it was pretty close. Joe Balcar was a great salesman - very nice, patient and attentive to us for the whole 6 hours we were there. I would definitely recommend Joe to anyone looking to shop at this dealer. Actually, I have already passed his name on to a friend. Avery really worked hard to try to find my first choice, and I do appreciate his time too. More
When I first walked into showroom I knew very little about Volkswagons and was giving them a courtious look before deciding on a buying a Altima,Accord,Cambry or Sonata. After talking to both Jim & Joe I was convinced that my best buy would be a Passat as it offered more than the others I was considering. Not only were they very knowledgable, but very friendly and easy to deal with. I'm happy with the deal I made and after just one week I'm happy and would certainly reccomend this dealership to my friends. More
Mr Balcar would have gotten all 5's. He was pleasant and straight forward about the car purchase. We worked on pricing and had agreed, shaken hands on a price on the car. We proceeded w paperwork and then the manager came over and said he had made a mistake with addition on the price and could only sell us the car for $500 more than the agreed upon price. Ultimately he compromised and we paid $300 more that the handshake price. The process was uncomfortable and had we not really wanted the car, come from far away to buy the car, we would have walked out. You may be happy with this scenario, it may have been intentional for all we know. But to us it was more of the same. A not so nice process of buying a car. That being said, Mr Balcar was very nice and these numbers are not a reflection of him but of the general experience. On the up side, the financing part went very smoothly and we felt like the options we were offered sweetened the not so nice experience. We did come a long way for the car and the car we wanted was indeed on the lot, in great condition. Basically, everything went great except for the managers miscalculation which colored an otherwise good experience. More
