When I read the complaint, I was very concerned as actions of the type described are not tolerated in our store or any of our affiliated stores. All of the managers and all of the sales staff are sensitive to several issues that were raised. The first, racial discrimination. We are proud that our stores not only employ but also serve a wide spectrum of diverse peoples. We do not profile or assess a customer as to what color they are, what they are wearing or any other factor. We treat each person who was kind enough to give us the opportunity to sell or service their vehicle in the same manner, “We treat everyone as if they are an investor in our store,” because they are. To look away from a customer or potential customer is a reason for termination. That being said, it further concerned me that you were not greeted and shown cars to allow you to make a purchase. We work hard to get potential customers to visit our stores, and to send any of them away dissatisfied is wrong. I was not present at the time you were at the store, however, I checked the sales logs and also spoke with the personnel on duty at the time of you were on the lot. They indicated that they had a very heavy night with more than the average number of customers in that night. Two of the three salespersons on duty that night were African Americans and one half of all sales managers at the store are also African Americans and one sales person was off, leaving us a salesperson down. Each indicate that they were actively working customers when you were present and the paperwork backs up their claim. Very often, a salesman is on the phone with banks or lenders trying to complete the transactions and while it looks like he/she is “on the phone” ignoring you, he/she is actually serving a customer that arrived before you. As there is a continuity to the sale, they could not just stop what they were doing to approach another customer as the prior customer would have been left without a complete transaction. As to “salesmen standing around having personal discussions,” the sales staff do have to communicate with managers as to offers and problems with deals that they are currently working. What may appear to be a personal conversation was probably a salesman going over the details of the deal with a manager and discussing offers and counteroffers. A can assure you that our sales staff is paid on commission and that they are not lazy. If they are, they would not be here. They do not discriminate based on any issue, if they did, they would not be here. Our sales staff are hardworking people and treat every person who is on our lot or on our phones as a potential customer who will hopefully put money in their pocket. I am very sorry that you did not have a good experience. I spoke with our managers and told them that they should have gone out on the lot and introduced themselves to you, they said they would have if they were aware of your presence. They also apologize as they failed to see you. Please feel free to call me and I will schedule a time for you to look at our inventory and see what we can do to make up for our managers missing you on the lot. Yi, Let me start by apologizing that your vehicle is not yet completed to our satisfaction. This is unfortunate and we are very sorry for the inconvenience. I must also tell you, as I did when we first spoke, I do not believe your car had any damage when you took delivery. You took delivery on 8/31 and it was a late night at the dealership finishing a few deliveries. While waiting to complete your transaction, you and 2 guests were out front with your new car for quite some time admiring it and looking it over. This was after the vehicle had gone through our cleanup process and was ready for your inspection. You did not have any concerns with the vehicle at that time. In the early morning hours of 9/1 you emailed your salesperson stating, “Thanks again for the sale today! Was a great experience.”. Later that afternoon you emailed that you saw some scratches asked if we could do anything, stating “see if you can fix them”. When we spoke I agreed to do whatever we could to repair this for you out of goodwill, I stated again that I did not believe the scratches were there when you took delivery. We brought a vehicle to you for alternate transportation and still have you in that vehicle at our expense. We are replacing the rear quarter vent window that comes with the chrome molding that was dented and repainting the area around it that had scratches. It is very disappointing that the repair has not been complete to our satisfaction yet but we have called you each time to say it was delayed and then had a defect, therefore we did not want to release the vehicle to you yet. We wish to remain upfront with you and disclosed information that was not necessarily pleasing, yet it was indeed the truth. My comment referring to you to “let it all out” was due to the fact that you were screaming at me repeatedly about why it was not completed. I feel we have done everything a company can do in the name of customer service to make this right for you and I agree the repair has not gone as we would like.
