He found a used Cobalt (with very low mileage) that suited my purposes perfectly. The finance people were very straight forward as to what options were available for me. So I'm pleased to report that John Gould at Herb Connolly is one of those guys you'll want to seek out if you're looking for a pleasant buying experience on par with those other businesses. My internet research led me to the Chevy Cruze I wanted, so I walked in as an informed buyer. Yet John was extremely helpful in adding to my knowledge without trying to force me to listen to the entire list of features that Chevy's Marketing Department has for this wonderful compact car. He was patient, honest and very well informed about his product, the market and financing. He's clearly a car guy through and through. But more importantly, he was a real professional who has clearly internalized every positive aspect of modern sales practices. He gave me his cell phone number for any questions I had, he had the plates, insurance and inspection ready on time as promised. He made sure that I was in control of the process every step of the way. And I drove away after a very thorough and helpful briefing on the car's features. The dealership itself was also great too. From the free bottles of cold water to the clean surroundings, I got the kind of treatment I'd expect from a luxury dealership. It's clear they have a corporate culture that understands it takes more than a good product to be competitive today. I haven't purchased an American car since the 1980s and it was a shock to find a vehicle from America that was so well-reviewed and competitive in its category. We bought a used 2008 Honda Ridgeline. We asked specifically if the bed cover was waterproof and were told by our salesman "the water runs right down these channels on the outside and what is insid specifically if the bed cover was waterproof and were told by our salesman "the water runs right down these channels on the outside and what is inside stays dry" The afternoon we brought it home we discovered water in the bed and trunk. We immediately called with the problem and were told to bring it in, that maybe the cover was disturbed when they were detailing it. I brought it in and they told me it was fixed. I asked if they had sprayed it with water to check it and they had not. They told me I had to wait if I wanted them to run it through the car wash. I waited. I was told again it was fixed. When I opened up the tailgate, there was obviously water in the bed. I was told I would have to come back for them to work on it further. I made an appointment and brought it back ~ this time they said they couldn't do anything for me. The used car manager told me "he didn't know what I was told when I purchased it but those covers are not waterproof and they weren't willing to do anything to fix it or replace it" A waterproof cover was a major selling point for us ~ without it the truck is No Good for family trips which is what we had in mind when we bought it. The reason we didn't buy a truck off craigslist is because we wanted the insurance of being able to come back to a dealership if we had a problem AND GET HELP Not worth paying the extra $ at a dealership, just alot of aggravation and we both left unhappy with our purchase and feeling taken advantage of More
